They had a plan. Two of Buchtel High School’s best football players heading into this coming season and best friends were going to win titles for their school and eventually go off to college and play together and complete the same task.

They are as quiet and respectful off the field as they are intense and driven on it. Hanging out recently with two of the top high school running backs from the Suburban League provided a peek into what they are like off the field. Aregeros Turner runs the ball for Copley. Tyrin Williams runs the ball for Tallmadge. There’s no hint of a rivalry, even though the duo squared off in a game last season that the Blue Devils won 34-14 on the Indians’ field.

MACEDONIA: Blaring music permeates the darkened hallways during the summer at Nordonia High School. It comes from the weight room nicknamed “The Dungeon,” where members of the football team are working. One can immediately sense a new attitude among the football players.
