Cedar Point is celebrating its reopening on Monday by offering a steep discount and a free ticket to its Soak City waterpark.
A water main break near the resort's toll booth on Saturday forced park officials to close the resort including its hotels for two days.
To make amends with disappointed guests, Cedar Point is offering a $20 discount off the regular park admission and a bonus free ticket to the Soak City waterpark.
The $39.99 deal is only available online at cedarpoint.com and will be offered through Sunday. The discounted Cedar Point tickets are only good through Sunday, but the free Soak City tickets can be redeemed through Sept. 1.
The last time the park had to close its gates unexpectedly was more than a decade ago when a blackout hit the East Coast.
Although park officials have not speculated about the financial loss, the closure came at the start of the busy summer season. In its financial reports, Cedar Fair has said the average park visitor spends around $50 once inside the park.
The loss in revenue will likely total in the millions, but it is likely Cedar Fair will recoup some of the money as most amusement parks are insured against such unexpected events.
