Opening day for the little guys

By Craig Webb Published: May 23, 2014

Today is opening day for a number of the smaller amusement parks.

Conneaut Lake Park in Conneaut Lake, Pa., will mark the start of its 122nd season this weekend.

The historic Blue Streak will be up and running along with the Hostile Hostel walk-through haunted attraction that is new to the midway.

The park is free to walk through and ride tickets are $1 each. The park also offers all-day ride wristbands at various price points. The most expensive option is $25.

Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia starts its season this weekend as well. The park offers a nice selection of gentle rides for the younger set.

Coney Island in Cincinnati also opens its pool and rides for the season this weekend.

Coney Island, which charges for parking, is another park where it is free to stroll around.
