Aeros fans let their voices be heard.
And in the end, they found nothing wrong with the name originally given to their team when the Indians Double-A franchise moved from Canton to Akron in 1997, switching from the Canton-Akron Indians to the Akron Aeros.

Aeros to announce winning name for re-branding contest Wednesday
Local baseball fans anxious to hear the results of the Aeros’ re-branding contest won’t have to wait as long as originally planned.
Instead of the originally-scheduled announcement coming on Oct. 6 with a big to-do at the Akron Civic Center, the team is expected to send out a press release Wednesday morning announcing whether the team will be changing names along with the winning entry.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore -- on major league rehab assignment at Akron (right knee contusion/hernia) -- wasted little time getting his first hit on Thursday.
After being the held hitless on Wednesday, he went 3-for-3 on Thursday.

It’s the final home game of the season the Akron Aeros, and they have been successful on the home stand so far. They split a four-game series with Richmond and have a chance to take three of four from Reading if they win at 7:05 p.m. tonight.
