Aeros make it 8 wins in a row, defeat B-Mets 3-1

Aeros starting pitcher Giovanni Soto limited the Binghamton to a run on four hits en route to a 3-1 win Wednesday at Canal Park.

The left-hander struck out nine and walking two, improving to 3-0 with a 3.33 ERA on the season.

Right-hander Kyle Landis earned his first save of the season, shutting out the B-Mets over the final two innings.

Aeros DH Adam Abraham went 2-for-3 with a run scored while 2B Ryan Rohlinger, RF Thomas Neal and 3B Kyle Bellows each drove in a run.

With the victory, the Aeros increased their winning streak to eight games and raised their Eastern-League leading record to 17-6.

ROSTER MOVE – As expected, Aeros right-hander Bryce Stowell was placed on the disabled list with a right forearm strain Wednesday. Added to the Akron roster to take Stowell’s place was right-hander Jose De La Torre, who joined the team from Triple-A Columbus.

Stowell, 25, had been out of action for a week and a half after experiencing soreness in the forearm after an outing April 20th in Reading. Thus, the move is retroactive to April 30.

Losing Stowell is a big blow to the Areos bullpen. Before being side lined, Stowell he’d thrown shutout innings, striking out 15 and not issuing a single walk in four relief appearances.

“Hopefully it’s a temporary setback,” Aeros manager Chris Tremie said. “He’s being evaluated now and there’ll be more information in the future.”

With the Clippers, De La Torre went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in seven games, striking out 16 and issuing just two walks. The return to Akron marks De La Torre’s second stint with the Aeros as the 26-year old opened the season with the club and appeared in two games (five scoreless innings) before being promoted to Columbus.
