Aeros closer Cory Burns named to Topps All-Star team

Akron Aeros' right-handed pitcher and closer Cory Burns is one of six Eastern League players to be named to the 2011 Topps Double-A All-Star Team.

The five other Eastern League representatives are second baseman Josh Satin (Binghamton), third baseman Will Middlebrooks (Portland), catcher Travis d’Arnaud (New Hampshire), outfielder Starling Marte (Altoona) and starting pitcher Brad Peacock (Harrisburg).

Burns, 24, led all Double-A with closers with 35 saves, 11 more than the next player. Burns enjoyed two stretches of recording saves in seven consecutive appearances, including the Aeros firrst seven games of the season. On the season, he struck out 70 batters and issued just 15 walks in 59 2/3 innings.

Burns was the Indians' eighth-round pick in 2009 out of the University of Arizona.
