After falling to the visiting Bowie Baysox 6-4 in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader at Canal Park, the Aeros rallied to earn a split with a 1-0 shutout win in the night cap.
LHP Eric Berger made the spot start and gave the host four solid scoreless innings. He scattered four hits, issued two walks and struck out four before giving way to the bullpen.
Aeros reliever and LHP Nick Hagadone came on from the bullpen and was just as good, holding the Baysox to one hit over three dominating innings to earn the win.
Instead of Akron manager Chris Tremie turning to closer and RHP Cory Burns for the ninth inning in a tight one-run game, Hagadone confidently trotted back out to the mound and struck out the side to end the Aeros three-game losing streak.
Akron's lone run came in fourth inning when C Juan Apodaca worked a walk off Bowie starter and RHP Wynn Pelzer to open the frame. Apodaca then took second on 2B Karexon Sanchez's sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on LF Tim Fedroff's single and scored on SS Juan Diaz's base hit.
