The Aeros (22-12) dropped their third straight game to Harrisburg (20-16) on Mother’s Day Sunday 8-4. This brings Akron’s lead in the West over the Senators to three games.
Quick hits: The Senators took House’s pitches and sent them right back at him to the tune of three singles, a double and an RBI sac fly, all fielded by centerfielder Tim Fedroff and all in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. Harrisburg added two more runs in the third.
The Aeros got four back in the bottom of the third inning when Jared Goedert crushed a three-run home run that even cleared the roughly 40-foot tall backdrop in CF. Chun Chen then followed with his second double off the wall for the day. He was driven in by Adam Abraham’s single up the middle a few pitches later.
Goedert entered the game with a .380 batting average and .469 on-base percentage, good enough for second and first in the Eastern League, respectively. He’s also now reached base safely in all 32 games he’s appeared in this season.
Centerfielder Tim Fedroff raised his average from .330 to .342 after going 3-5 with a double and a run scored and has a six-game hitting streak. He's hitting 12-27 (.444) over that span.
Next game: Aeros LHP Giovanni Soto (3-1, 3.94 ERA) vs. Erie LHP Ramon Garcia (1-2, 7.31 ERA) at Erie, 6:35 p.m.
