Aeros top B-Mets, 3-2

By Stephanie Storm Published: April 30, 2012

The Aeros increased their season-high winning streak to six games and raised their Eastern League-leading record to 15-6 with a 3-2 win over visiting Binghamton Monday night at Canal Park.

The Aeros snapped a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning when DH Chun Chen led off with a single and LF Nick Weglarz followed with a walk. After Ben Copeland came on to pinch run, 2B Ryan Rohlinger followed with an RBI single to score Chen. A throwing error by Binghamton 3B Jefry Marte also allowed Copeland to score, as the Aeros took a two-run lead.

Aeros win both games of double-header in walk-off fashion

By Ryan Lewis Published: April 29, 2012

The Aeros (14-6) were only scheduled to play two seven-inning games Sunday.

They ended up playing 20 innings and six hours of baseball. Akron beat Altoona 4-3 and then 3-2, both in walk-off fashion and both times with Ryan Rohlinger crossing the plate to win the game. Catcher Michel Hernandez drove Rohlinger in to end the first game in the bottom of the 13th inning. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, a wild pitch allowed Rohlinger to end the game once again.

Trenton Fights off Sweep, Beat Aeros 2-1

By Ryan Lewis Published: April 15, 2012

Quick Hits: Starting pitcher Eric Berger was much improved over his first start, but again tired in the fourth inning. Trenton's Cody Johnson belted a solo home run to right field that even cleared the inflatable slide that sits behind the bleachers. Berger threw five innings, gave up two earned runs on five hits and struck out four.
Down 2-1 in the eighth inning, the Aeros had runners on the corners with no outs. Juan Diaz struck out and Jared Goedert popped out to shortstop.
Chun Chen was walked on four pitches to load the bases for Nick Weglarz, who weakly popped out to third to end the inning.
Next game:  Toru Murata (0-0) will notch his first start against Bobby Bundy (1-1, 3.27 ERA) and Bowie Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at home.
