Aeros' Neal named Eastern League Player of the Week

Aeros OF Thomas Neal was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 25th through July 1st.

The 6-foot-2, 20-pound slugger batted .500 with six doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, three walks and a 1.036 slugging percentage in seven games last week.

Neal, who is a native of Inglewood, California, kicked off the week by homering in consecutive games Monday and Tuesday, then went on to reach base in each game he played. He also drove in or scored at least one run in six of those games and had five multiple hit performances.

The 24-year old led all E.L. players in batting average (.500), hits (14), extra -base hits (nine), total bases (29), slugging percentage (1.036) and OPS (1.598) last week and  finished among the weekly leaders in doubles (tied for first), homers (tied for first), RBI (tied for first), on-base percentage (second at .563) and runs scored (seventh, tied for third).

On the season, Neal is batting .307 with 16 doubles, six home runs, 42 runs scored
and 32 RBI in 64 games. He was acquired by the Indians in a trade with San Francisco for Orlando Cabrera at the trading deadline last year in July. Originally, Neal was a 36th-round selection by the GIants in the 2005 draft.
