Akron 6, Bowie 3; Rohlinger's HR powers Aeros

By Ryan Lewis Published: April 16, 2012

Quick Hits: Ryan Rohlinger broke the game open with a three-run home run to right field in the second inning. Toru Murata pitched three innings in place of the injured Paolo Espino, allowing two earned runs and four hits while striking out two. Bryce Stowell came on in relief and struck out seven of the 10 batters he faced over three innings.

Stowell has been developing a changeup for a while, first with his father and now pitching coach Tony Arnold.

"Coach Arnold and I have been working on it as far as throwing it harder and with quicker arm speed," Stowell said. "Sometimes it's just reassuring [yourself] so that you can have confidence throwing it."

With Paolo Espino out, the Aeros will play it by ear with that spot in the rotation.

Next Game: LHP Jacob Pettit (1-0, 2.25 ERA) vs. LHP T.J. McFarland (2-0, 0.82 ERA)
