Akron Aeros defeat Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-4 Saturday

The Akron Aeros scored four runs in the second inning and three runs in the fourth inning Saturday to defeat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-4 at Canal Park.

Aeros starter Will Roberts outshined Flying Squirrels starter Craig Westcott in a battle of right-handed pitchers.

The Akron Aeros are set to host the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05 tonight at Canal Park in an Eastern League baseball game.

Shortstop Francisco Lindor, a Cleveland Indians top prospect, is scheduled to bat first in the Aeros batting order for manager Edwin Rodriguez.

Aeros release 2014 schedule—includes multiple holiday games

The Aeros announced their schedule for the 2014 season this week. 

The slate includes a seven-game road trip to open the year before the team comes home for a seven-game home stand, with Opening Day at Canal Park falling on a Thursday.

Aeros announce Scott Riley as Assistant General Manager

The Aeros on Tuesday announced the appointment of Scott Riley as Assistant General Manager, per a release. 

As assistant GM, Riley will "oversee all aspects of the ballpark operation, which includes concessions, operations and merchandising."

“I’m excited about what’s already happening at Canal Park,” Riley said. “I want to be a part of the vision that Ken Babby and Jim Pfander are taking this franchise while they continue to tie in the community of Akron with this great team."

Most recently, Riley was with the Minnesota Twins franchise as Vending Manager and Assistant Concessions Manager.

Aeros punchless in 7-0 shutout to visiting Curve

Altoona shutout the Aeros 7-0 in the first game of a four-game series Thursday night at Canal Park.

Curve starter and left-handed pitcher Eliecer Navarro (2-2, 4.82 ERA) tossed six shutout innings, and was backed by three Curve relievers who kept the Aeros off the board as the visitors combined to limit Akron’s offense to seven hits in the shutout loss.
