Bellows and McFarland sweep Eastern League weekly awards

A pair of Aeros players swept the Eastern League Weekly awards today, with third baseman Kyle Bellows earning the Player of the Week Award and starting pitcher T.J. McFarland honored as the Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 14th through May 20th.

Kyle Bellows, 23, batted .391 (9-for-23) with three doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, four runs scored, two walks and a .913 slugging percentage in six games for the Aeros last week.

The San Jose, Ca., native reached base safely in five games last week and had three multiple-hit games, including going 4-for-5 with a grand slam in the Aeros 16-3 win
over Richmond Friday at Canal Park. He followed up that performance by going 2-for-4 with a home run in a 15-5 victory against the Flying Squirrels Saturday night.

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound slugger led all Eastern League players in RBI (nine), extra-base hits (six) and total bases (21) last week. He also finished ranked among the weekly leaders in home runs (three-tied 1st), slugging percentage (.913-2nd), OPS
(1.353-3rd), doubles (three-t ied 4th), hits (nine-tied 6th) and batting average (.391-9th).

Bellows was selected by the Indians in the fourth round of the 2009 draft out of San Jose State University.

McFarland, a 6-foot-3, 209-pound right-hander, was 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in 14 innings spanning two starts last week. The native of Palos Hills, Illinois, made his first start 
Tuesday at Erie and struck out six batters while allowing just three hits over seven shutout innings to earn the win in the Aeros 7-1 victory.

In his second appearance of the week, the 22-year old gavce up just one run over seven innings to lead the Aeros to a 3-2 victory over Richmond Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. He was able to limit the damage from the 12 hits he surrendered thanks to six strikeouts and four double plays while earning his league-best eighth win of the season and
extending his winning streak to six consecutive games.

 Mcfarland, who is 8-1 with 36 strikeouts and a 1.79 ERA over 55 1/3 innings in nine starts, was selected by the Tribe in the fourth round of the 2007 draft
out of Amos Alonzo Stagg High School.
