Key situation: Johnny Monell’s two-run double with the bases loaded in the sixth inning lifted Richmond past Akron.

Quick hits: The Aeros were able to capitalize on Richmond mistakes. Kyle Bellows, who was hit by a pitch, scored the Aeros first run. Cristo Arnal, who reached on an error, scored on a Ben Copeland groundout in the seventh….Raul Padron had three hits and scored a run for the Aeros…Francisco Peguero had four hits and scored two runs for the Flying Squirrels… With the loss, the Aeros fall four games behind third-place Richmond in the standings. A loss by second-place Bowie Thursday keeps the Aeros 5.5 games back from the playoff hunt. The top two teams in each division makes the playoffs.
