Hafner and Weglarz fuel offense, but Aeros still lose 8-5 to New Hampshire

Indians DH Travis Hafner went 2-for-4 with a run scored in what appears to be his final rehab outing with the Aeros and LF Nick Weglarz hit two home runs and drove in four RBI.

But the seven runs (six earned) given up by Aeros starter and LHP Matt Packer in a brief, 4 2/3-inning outing was too much to over come as the host lost 8-5 to visiting new Hampshire Thursday at Canal Park.

Hafner singled in his first at-bat, flew out to center in the fourth, doubled and scored in the seventh and struck out in his final at-bat in the eighth inning following a 28-minute rain delay.

Weglarz hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning to cut the Aeros deficit to 7-4, then added another solo shot in the ninth. IB Beau Mills also hit a solo home run in the first inning.

The Aeros continue the home stand tonight at 7:05 p.m. with the first contest of a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs.
