Phillies top Aeros 6-2 in Game One of doubleheader

Key situation: Reading won the first game of the doubleheader Saturday based on the three runs it scored in the third inning Friday before the game was suspended due to the rain. Michael Spidale and Matt Rizzotti each hit a sacrifice fly to center in the third to score Fidel Hernandez and Tuffy Gosewisch and make the score 2-0 off Aeros starting pitcher Matt Packer. Cody Overbeck made it 3-0 with an RBI single to left to score Freddy Galvis.

Quick hits: The Phillies led 5-0 in the fourth inning at the expense of Aeros reliever Paolo Espino. Carlos Rivero scored on a Jeremy Slayden single and Derrick Mitchell scored on a Hernandez sacrifice fly. . . . Tim Fedroff cut the Aeros deficit to 5-1 with a solo home run to right center. . . . The Aeros Kyle Bellows batted in Chun Chen in the eighth. . . . The Phillies concluded the scoring in the ninth when Galvis singled in Slayden. . . . Phillies reliever Mike Cisco earned the win.

Next game: Aeros left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz and Phillies right-hander J.C. Ramirez are the scheduled starting pitchers in the second game of the doubleheader today at Canal Park in approximately 35 minutes.
