Postgame: Mets top Aeros 6-2. Sizemore, Henry each get two hits

Eric Campbell and Brahiam Maldonado smacked consecutive two-out RBI singles in the eighth inning to snap a 2-2 tie Saturday at Canal Park and guide Binghamton to a 6-2 victory over the Akron Aeros.

Jordany Valdespin led off the inning with a walk and scored on Campbell's hit. Maldonado plated Campbell with his hit.

Grady Sizemore update

Center fielder Grady Sizemore, who is with the Aeros as he continues to rehabilitate his left knee after having microfracture surgery in June, went 2-for-4 at bat Saturday with a single, a double, a walk and a run batted in.

Sizemore is 3-for-7 at bat with the Aeros.

Sizemore said he is scheduled to start Monday when the Aeros host Altoona at 7:05 p.m.

Joe Smith update

Right-handed reliever Joe Smith made his second appearance with the Aeros in the fifth inning, and once again retired the side in order with two strikeouts. Smith is rehabbing a strained abdominal muscle on his left side that occurred in the second week of March.

Jordan Henry hot at bat

Aeros right fielder Jordan Henry is comfortable at bat. Henry continued his hot start Saturday with two singles and a run batted in at Canal Park to bring his batting average to .385 (5-for-13).

Henry has reached base safely in each of the Aeros three games with four singles, a double, three runs batted in and one run scored.

Quick hits: Aeros left-hander Scott Barnes pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs and three hits. He struck out seven and walked two. . . .   Mets right-handed reliever Erik Turgeon got the win and Aeros right-handed reliever Chen-Chang Lee took the loss. . . . Binghamton scored twice in the third to take a 2-0 lead. Jean Luc Blaquiere walked to leadoff the inning and scored following a Valdespin double with two outs. Josh Satin singled in Valdespin. . . . The Aeros tied the score at 2-2 with two runs in the seventh. Karexon Sanchez reached base with a one out walk and Juan Apodaca followed with a single. Grady Sizemore and Jordan Henry then delivered consecutive RBI singles. . . . The Mets added two runs in the ninth when Satin singled in Carlos Guzman and Valdespin.

Next game starting pitchers: Right-hander Austin Adams will start for the Aeros and left-hander Robert Carson for the Mets at 1:05 today.
