RHP Austin Adams was honored as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of Aug. 1-7.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder made two appearances for the Aeros last week, going 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA in 11 2/3 innings.
Adams made his first start of the week on Tuesday night at Trenton and allowed just one run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over five innings to earn the win as the Aeros edged the Thunder 3-2. In his second appearance of the week Sunday at Canal Park, the 24-year old scattered seven hits over 6 2/3 innings to earn the win as Akron downed New Britain 10-2. He allowed two runs while striking out five batters and walking one.
Adams has earned a win in each of his last for starts and is currently tied for fifth in the league with nine wins. Adams, who pitched one scoreless inning for the Western Division at the 2011 Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star Game, was selected by the Indians in the fifth round of the 2009 draft after going 5-2 with 42 strikeouts and a 5.83 ERA and driving in a team-high 51 runs during his senior season at Faulkner University.
