Getting Beyond Race

By Da King Published: June 30, 2009

The Senate formally apologized for slavery yesterday, one hundred and forty four years too late, one hundred and forty four years after slavery was abolished.

Do we all feel better now ? A bunch of people who had nothing whatsoever to do with slavery have apologized for it. Now we know that America doesn't condone slavery (and here I thought the Civil War settled that issue). Thank goodness. All those American pro-slavery groups can go pound salt. If there are any, that is, which there aren't (I hope).

Enough Already - Stop Cap-And-Trade

By Da King Published: June 28, 2009

“Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government.” - Thomas Jefferson

Allow me to construct a hypothetical set of circumstances. Let's say our country was in the midst of a severe recession, that unemployment was rising rapidly as millions of jobs were being lost, that average people were having an increasingly difficult time getting by, that our industries were having a difficult time competing, that the value of the dollar was dropping, that we were up to our ears in debt......

The King Of Pop, 1958-2009

By Da King Published: June 27, 2009

No politics today.

I'll leave it to others to talk about Michael Jackson's personal problems and strange behavior (and lord knows they will). As a musician, I'd rather focus on the man's unique talent, which was a gift to the world. I am saddened by his passing, more saddened than I even would have expected. Thanks for the memories, Michael.

Obama Fires Americorps Watchdog - Part II

By Da King Published: June 25, 2009

This is a follow-up to the original blog piece I wrote about President Obama's firing of Gerald Walpin, the Inspector General of the CNCS, the watchdog over Americorps and other national service groups.

It's looking more and more like a political hit job.

Center Right Nation, Independent Voters

By Da King Published: June 22, 2009

Recent polling shows that Americans increasingly have no party identification. There are more Independent voters than those having allegiance to either Democrats or Republicans. Here's a chart from Pew Research:

FDA Makes Food Illegal

By Da King Published: June 21, 2009

The latest out-of-control federal government agency that has succumbed to excessive moonbattery is the Food And Drug Administration. In an attempt to crack down on health claims made by food manufacturers, Obama's FDA is targeting...are you ready for this???

Obama Fires Americorps Watchdog

By Da King Published: June 17, 2009

In 2006, President Bush fired eight U.S. Attorneys. It was within the rights of the executive branch to fire those attorneys, who serve at the pleasure of the President. Bush did not have to give a reason or provide cause to fire them. Following those firings, there have been 2 1/2 years of accusations, scandal, and investigations of the Bush administration. The investigations continue to this day.

Then the great CHANGE occurred, and Barack Obama became President Of The United States. Things would be different now. No longer would people be hired or fired for political reasons.

Leftists Are The Biggest Mass Murderers In History

By Da King Published: June 15, 2009

To all those far left kooks (Keith Olbermann, Paul Krugman, The Reverend) who cling to the absurd idea that Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and conservative free speech in general are somehow responsible for the heinous acts of the murderers James von Brunn and Scott Roeder, I say....

Stop being illiterate and pick up a history book. Almost all the biggest perpetrators of violence in history have come FROM THE LEFT. Here are a few examples.

The Plusquellic Recall Election

By Da King Published: June 14, 2009

I don't usually write about local politics, but I'm making an exception today for one reason - The Akron Beacon Journal isn't portraying the issues honestly. They are functioning instead as cheerleaders for Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic. That is a disservice to all Akronites.

Case in point - In today's front page story about the recall, the ABJ glosses over the strongest reason to recall Mayor Plusquellic, which is the massive debt burden he has foisted on Akron. The ABJ couldn't even bring itself to mention what that debt burden is, so I'll do it.

Why Are Neo-Nazis Called Right-Wingers ?

By Da King Published: June 11, 2009

An 88-year old racist cretin named James von Brunn opened fire at the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. on wednesday, killing one of the security guards, Stephen Tyrone Jones. Sigh. Another senseless tragedy committed by another senseless idiot, the third act of domestic terrorism by an individual gunman in the last couple weeks.

Brunn appears to be your classic white supremacist, neo-Nazi, Jew-hating, Holocaust-denying bigot, the kind who worships Adolph Hitler and believes the Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion is proof positive that the Jews are involved in some dark conspiracy to take over the world.

Stimulating Conversation

By Da King Published: June 9, 2009

"One hundred days ago, in the midst of the worst economic crisis in half a century, we passed the most sweeping economic recovery act in history. One hundred days later, we are already seeing results. In these last few months, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has saved or created nearly 150,000 jobs." President Obama, May 27, 2009.

Nobody knows where President Obama came up with that 150,000 number for jobs allegedly "saved or created" by his stimulus package. It cannot be verified. We do, however, know the overall jobs situation. Since Obama signed his stimulus package in february, 1.6 million American jobs have been lost. Unemployment now stands at 9.4%, the highest in over a quarter century. Things have gotten so bad that pundits (and Obama) have taken to claiming the 345,000 jobs shed by the economy in May are actually a GOOD sign (we lost 539,000 in April). Our economic Titanic is still headed toward the iceberg, but at a reduced speed. Let's celebrate !

All The News Not Fit To Print

By Da King Published: June 8, 2009

Not by the leftmedia, anyway.
Ever since Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain's running mate last year, she has faced a barrage of ethics complaints. No less than 14 complaints have been filed against her, for everything from firing Alaska's Public Safety Commissioner, to taking trips out of state, to conducting television interviews in her state office, to Palin wearing a jacket from her husband's snowmobile racing sponsor to a public function. Out of the 14 ethics complaints, obviously motivated by partisan politics, Palin has been cleared of every single one.

Palin said defending herself against all the frivolous complaints has cost more than $500,000, and she set up a legal defense fund to cover the costs.

The New American Economic Model

By Da King Published: June 7, 2009

In the last nine months, we have learned a great deal about how "free market" economics in America really works. With all the bailouts of financial institutions (TARP), automobile companies (TARP), and federal/state/local governments (Stimulus package), it has become clear that our economic model is - profits are privatized (paid to investors), and losses are socialized (borne by taxpayers).

Abortions Banned In 270th Trimester

By Da King Published: June 5, 2009

This morning I wanted to write about President Obama's speech in Cairo, Egypt. I thought it was a very good speech, once you get past our President's troubling penchant to go overseas and heap blame on America again and again. That drives me nuts. Somebody should tell Obama that it is a real bad idea to condemn the Iraq War when OUR SOLDIERS ARE STILL IN IRAQ FIGHTING IT. Has any other U.S. President ever done such a thing ? I can't think of one.

But I'm not going to write about that, because I can't stop thinking about the murder of Dr. George Tiller, the late term abortionist. Not surprisingly, the family of the alleged assassin, Scott Roeder, says that Roeder is mentally ill. The Wichita District Attorney handling the case said Tiller's murder was the act of a lone gunman. No doubt, the lone gunman theory is a disappointment to certain liberal groups who want the culprit to be - the entire pro-life and conservative movements. Maybe someone should evaluate the mental fitness of those liberal groups.

Terrorists, Vigilantes, Extremists

By Da King Published: June 4, 2009

Osama Bin Laden, the world's leading terrorist (or "freedom fighter," as Michael Moore would call him), has released a new tape, saying President Obama is sowing "new seeds of hatred and revenge against America." Apparently, Bin Laden's Dish Network package doesn't include MSNBC, or Bin Laden would know that everything changed the day Obama took office. We're closing Gitmo, have banned EIT's, are pulling out of Iraq, are apologizing to the world for our bad behavior in fighting terrorists, etc, etc.

Or maybe Bin Laden doesn't really care about any of that. It seems he doesn't.
