Colin Powell's Disgrace

By Da King Published: August 31, 2011

In former Vice President Dick Cheney's memoir, titled 'In My Time', Cheney accurately stated that Richard Armitage of the State Deparment was the person who originally leaked the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame to reporter Bob Novak. Novak subsequently published that information, outing Plame's identity. Armitage's boss at the time was Secretary Of State, Colin Powell.

Colin Powell said Cheney was taking "cheap shots" at him, and responded with the following:

America, Land Of The Regulated

By Da King Published: August 27, 2011

It was bad enough when the government turned off the water supply of California farmers to protect a minnow. The farmers went bust as their crops rotted and died.

It was bad enough when President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) into law, with it's 150 or so new government agencies, panels, and commissions, along with possibly thousands of new regulations. That will be a new maze of bureaucracy we can all enjoy. As Rep. Pelosi infamously stated, we'll find out what in the legislation after we pass it. That's how we do things now. We pass legislation, and then try to figure out how it works. Perfectly sensible, at least to government bureaucrats.

At Least Obama Is Ending The Wars

By Da King Published: August 21, 2011

I've been pretty hard of President Obama, mainly for running up trillions of dollars in debt every year he's been in office, and for jacking up federal spending at a time we didn't have a plan in place to pay for our existing spending. Obama also blew a trillion bucks on a failed stimulus plan that didn't bring down unemployment, and implemented a major new entitlement program when we didn't have plans for how to pay for our existing entitlements. He also has the irritating habit of blaming everything on anyone other than himself. His slogan should be 'the buck stops there'. Frankly, his act has worn very thin.

But at least Obama is ending the wars. Our troops will be out of Iraq by the end of 2011, and out of Afghanistan by 2014, according to the President. He deserves at least a little credit for this.

What Was That About Political Rhetoric ?

By Da King Published: August 18, 2011

Looks like I have some time to kill until President Obama unveils his jobs plan next month (no rush, Mr. President), which I'm certain will save the nation (satire intended) unless those "terrorist" (Biden's word), "un-patriotic" (Pelosi's word), "radical" (Reid's word) House Republicans put "ideology above country" (Obama's phrase) and shoot it down for partisan reasons (irony apparent to everyone except liberals). The President will be putting the finishing touches on his plan to

But not to worry, this President will never forget his roots (Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Saul Alinsky, etc). Even though Obama now farts through silk, he once knew the heavy weight of oppression, like when he was asked to repay his student loans from Harvard Law School. One can only imagine how he must have suffered. I used to think George Washington and his men had it rough at Valley Forge until I heard Obama talk about his student loans. Now I know what real pain must feel like. With such tribulations in his past, it's a wonder Obama didn't become a blues singer instead of going into politics. Lucky for us, eh ? Therefore, I have no doubt he will remain in touch with the common man (his waiters, bellhops, maids, sommeliers, drivers, etc).

Shared Stupidity

By Da King Published: August 15, 2011

President Obama talks about closing corporate tax loopholes and taxing companies who move profits offshore. He calls this 'shared sacrifice". This kind of talk makes for a good class warfare political talking point, and Obama repeats this kind of stuff endlessly, but there's much Obama fails to tell us. Some of what Obama conveniently forgets to say was brought up on CBS' 60 Minutes program last night, in a repeat of a report it aired in March. 60 Minutes reported on corporate tax havens:

Since Standard And Poor's (S&P) downgraded America's credit rating, Democrats have been searching for the correct political spin to put on it. First, the White House said S&P made a $2 trillion mistake and our credit rating should not have been downgraded. President Obama, in apparent denial, said, "we've always been, and always will be, a AAA country", even though we are now a AA+ country. Then the next day, several top Democrats David Axelrod, Sen. John Kerry (D-NVA), Howard Dean) blamed the "fake" downgrade on the Tea Party, leaving us with a bizarre Democrat mixed message - 'the downgrade is fake and incorrect,...and it's the Tea Party's fault !!!' Go figure.

I will update you once we have an official phony Democrat position on the matter.

Larry Summers On The Economy

By Da King Published: August 5, 2011

Larry Summers was the Treasury Secretary under President Clinton, and the chief economic advisor to President Obama in 2009-2010. Summers resigned from the Obama administration in September 2010. I read his comments about the debt ceiling deal and the economy in general a couple days ago, and thought they would be informative. Here are Summers' remarks, with some comments from myself thrown in. My comments will be enclosed in brackets:

The Big Lies Of Paul Krugman

By Da King Published: August 4, 2011

When liberal economist/Princeton professor/New York Times columnist Paul Krugman speaks, his words are immediately incorporated into the left-wing body politick. Liberals use Krugman to fashion phony talking points by the dozens, and the bigger the Krugman lie, the better. Here are a few of the latest Krugman lies being consumed and regurgitated whole by liberals:

A Debt Limit Deal, I Hope

By Da King Published: August 1, 2011

If the debt limit deal struck between President Obama and Congress passes, it will be the first financial step forward our government has taken in over a decade. No, strike that. The deal is actually not a step forward. In reality, it's just the absence of another step backward. We've taken so many backward steps lately that anything else seems like progress. Walking backwards seems almost normal in these upside-down times.

We will be cutting $2.7 trillion in future spending for a $2.7 increase in the debt ceiling. That's basically a fiscal wash, and the "spending cuts" are mostly just reductions in future spending increases. We still have a long way to go in order to reach fiscal responsibility. We still have a massive deficit to deal with. No fiscal responsibility can be achieved unless we first balance the federal budget. Until we get there, we are still walking backwards.
