About This Blog
I can't wait for election day to get here, if only to stop the flood of negative campaign attack ads from assaulting my senses. I'm never more convinced that we need to limit government than I am just before election time, when politicians prove beyond a doubt what dishonest bottom-feeders they really are. This election cycle is certainly no different. It seems each election cycle gets worse than the previous one.
I submit this campaign ad from Canada as my entry for best (or worst) negative attack ad:
Sam Katz kicks children in the face. Ah, perfection. National embarassment Alan Grayson (D-FL) couldn't have said it better.
In related news, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said his Republican challenger Sharron Angle LIED when she quoted Reid as saying "the war is lost" about Iraq. It takes some big old brass balls for Reid to deny that quote, which was broadcast all across America in 2007. Here were Dirty Harry's exact words then:
Now I believe, myself, that the secretary of state, the secretary of defense and you have to make your own decision as to what the president knows: that this war is lost, that the surge is not accomplishing anything.
Pretty hard to walk away from those words, but Reid is still trying. Is there an honest person left in Washington ??? If so, it sure ain't Harry Reid.
More bottom-feeder campaign news, from Florida. Charlie Crist, the Republican turned Independent turned mostly Democrat flip-flopping political chameleon who will take any political position so long as he thinks it will help him cling to power, has accused his Republican challenger Marco Rubio of betraying his own Hispanic family. No kidding. He did this during a three-way debate. Note - Rubio is of Hispanic descent. Crist is not. If you want to see a scumbag politico at work, watch and listen to Crist in the following video:
Notice how Crist hides behind his own mealy-mouthed accusation by saying the words were not his, they were someone else's (that Crist just decided to cheapen the debate with), not to mention that if anyone has blind ambition and will trade his political convictions in pursuit of power, Crist is the poster boy in this election cycle. That was a nice smackdown by both Rubio and Meek though.
The main feeling I'm taking away from this political cycle is...I'm offended. I'm offended at the cheap and dishonest campaign tactics of both sides. I'm offended that specific issues are rarely addressed. I'm offended that these politicos must think the American public is stupid beyond belief. I'm offended by the thought that any of these lying scumbags think their lies and distortions will induce me to vote for them.
I'm most offended that these same lying scumbags are the very people who will have the power to control our lives. That is one scary thought. If these politicians will lie right to your face on television and resort to the cheapest forms of slander, what does that say about how they will lead our country ? Why would we even want proven liars and scoundrels to lead us ?
These politicians make me feel dirty. I think I'll just go watch some football.
