Obama Defends Obamacare Lies

By David King Published: October 31, 2013

The mainstream media is finally admitting that Obama sold his Affordable Care Act to America under false pretenses, based upon lies like, "we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health-care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health-care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what", and his promise that it would lower premiums by $2,500 per year.

As many of us have known all along, under Obamacare millions of people CAN'T keep their health care plan if they like it, and premiums haven't gone down, they've gone way up.

Another Attempt, Another Failure

By David King Published: October 28, 2013

In my ongoing effort to comply with the rules of Obamacare, I tried to enroll in the healthcare exchanges for the fourth time. This week's failed effort resulted in informing me that "The system is down at the moment. We are experiencing technical difficulties and hope to have them resolved soon. Please try again later". I was informed I might have better luck applying over the phone, so I called the listed number, where I was told they could not verify my identity. I could not apply. They asked me to mail a copy of a valid form of identification to Equifax, and then...who knows ? So far, so bad. I find it strange that the federal government, of all people, could not verify my identity. They know more about me than any other entity. Is the White House unaware of the IRS, the NSA, etc ? The federal government can not only verify my identity, it knows my income, my bank account balances, has my phone records, can track my location, and can even watch me typing at my computer. What do they need Equifax for ?

The government has pledged to have working smoothly BY THE END OF NOVEMBER. The problem there is, people only have until Dec. 15th to get signed up to be covered by Jan. 1st, which is when lots of existing healthcare plans in the individual market will no longer be valid (like mine).  Color me nervous. That GOP idea to delay the Obamacare individual mandate is sounding better by the day. This is from Business Insider:

Fixing The McJobs Problem

By David King Published: October 26, 2013

In my last two posts, I discussed the expanding welfare state and the government's debt problem (which is actually a government spending problem). Government dependence is growing by leaps and bounds. For example, in the year 2000, 17 million Americans received food stamps. Today, that number has grown to 47 million. Overall, 49.2% of Americans receive some kind of government assistance. The government has spent $3.7 trillion on 80 different welfare programs (excluding Social Security and Medicare) over the last 5 years.

The middle class is shrinking. It is taking home a smaller share of total income than ever before. Median income has fallen for five years in a row. Unsurprisingly, consumer credit has risen 22% over the last three years.

A De-Americanized World

By David King Published: October 23, 2013

There was an article in The UK Telegraph titled "China Aiming For 'De-Americanised World' WIth Renminbi Replacing Dollar". The renminbi is the official currency of the People's Republic Of China. The Telegraph article stated the following:

China has overtaken the US as the world’s largest oil importer and goods trading nation. Over the next five years, it will surpass the rest of the world combined in its consumption of base metals.

The Candyman Can't

By David King Published: October 22, 2013

I never thought the federal government was supposed to provide me with everything I wanted, just by virtue of the fact that I didn't have it. As an adult, I always figured it was my responsibility to feed and clothe myself, raise my children, put a roof over my head, pay my utility bills, obtain money in exchange for work, purchase health insurance, get a cell phone, pay for college, etc. I also never thought the government was supposed to take most of my money if I worked hard and one day became successful.

I never considered any of these beliefs to be right wing, left wing, or middle of the road. In fact, I never considered them to be political at all. I thought America was supposed to be the land of opportunity, where success was actually encouraged and appreciated. That's what grows our economy and provides opportunities for others. This isn't a political belief either. It's common sense.

Obama Says Don't Pay Attention To Political Activists ?

By David King Published: October 17, 2013

But instant classic from Powerline - Hitler Learns About The Obamacare Exchanges. Too funny.

In his speech following the debt deal, Der Fuehrer, er, I mean, the President, said this:

Dems Trying to Reverse Previous Budget Cuts

By David King Published: October 13, 2013

This government shutdown/debt ceiling political kabuki theater has sure been interesting, but it's about to come to a halt. In the end, as I told you from the beginning, the Republicans will cave (because they are losing in the public's eye), the debt ceiling will be raised (because it is ALWAYS raised and must be raised), the government will continue to spend, spend, spend us into oblivion (because that's what it's done for the last 60 years), and the next act in the kabuki play will open some months from now, when all the same partisan shriekers will do all the same partisan shrieking. Nothing much will change, and that's the real shame of it.

Contrary to President Obama's inaccurate claim that this debt ceiling drama is unprecedented, debt ceiling drama happens a lot. What's important is not the debt ceiling drama, but rather what has happened to the federal debt during past debt ceiling votes:

Obama: A Profile In Debt Ceiling Hypocrisy

By David King Published: October 11, 2013

All you need to know about Barack Obama, and politics more generally, is contained in Obama's polar opposite positions on the debt ceiling. He had one position in 2006 when the President's name was Bush, and the exact opposite position now that the President's name is Obama.

First, I'll provide some debt ceiling excerpts from Obama's press conference last tuesday:

Kathleen Sebelius, the HHS Secretary and Obamacare PR woman, went on The Daily Show with John Stewart a couple days ago and claimed that the website (the Obamacare health exchanges) had some initial glitches, but was much better than the unmitigated disaster it was when it rolled out a week earlier. Sebelius also claimed she didn't know how many people had signed up via the health exchanges, which I found difficult to believe, but said 100,000 accounts had been set up. When Sebelius said she didn't know how many had signed up, that most likely meant she didn't want to admit how few were able to sign up. I have become fluent in Obama-Speak.

Confident that Obamanation would NEVER lie to the American people (sarcasm intended), I decided to do my mandated duty as a royal subject and sign up for Obamacare. Off I went into the brave new world of health exchanges...

Keeping It Clean

By David King Published: October 8, 2013

President Obama and the Democrats keep saying they want the Republican-led House to pass a "clean" spending bill to end the government shutdown and avert the looming debt ceiling limit. This spending bill is called a "continuing resolution (CR)".

Let's define "clean CR", as used by Democrats.

Shutdown: Brinksmanship 1, Pragmatism 0

By David King Published: October 1, 2013

No resolution to the budget impasse was reached by Congress yesterday. As a result, the federal government has shutdown...which is to say, most of the federal government is still open. Social security and pension checks will still be sent out. The Post Office is still operating. Medicare is still processing claims. We're not pulling our troops out of Afghanistan. Essential services and employees remain. The ObamaCare exchanges are opening today on schedule.

As far as I can tell, a federal government "shutdown" means the national parks will be closed and non-essential federal workers will be temporarily furloughed, meaning that many federal departments will have a bare bones staff. Maybe the Labor Dept. won't produce the unemployment numbers on time.
