Left-wingers have a very simple solution to this country's economic problems. Here it is - let's steal all the money and assets rich people have earned, and give that money to the government for redistribution to the rest of us. This is the left's solution to all things economic. They believe this one simple act of mega-robbery will solve all our problems. They believe it will get rid of our deficit and debt, shore up Medicare and Social Security forever, fund health care for everyone, and on and on. It is their panacea. Nothing galls left-wingers more than the fact that some people in this country are wealthy while others are not. They view the accumulation of personal wealth as some sort of crime. They view corporations as some sort of organized crime.
This leftist wealth confiscation idea is not a new one. Without this idea, there wouldn't be any leftists. Their idea has been tried many times before. The most notable modern examples are China and the USSR. American leftists have the peculiar notion that they can repeat the China/USSR experiment here while leaving out all the bad parts, like the suppression of human rights and freedom. In other words, American leftists are the dumbest people in the country. Their naivete is simply off the charts. They think they can create an American totalitarian authoritarian state and still keep all the civil rights they take for granted now. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. Either we're free or we're not free. If we implement the wealth confiscation policies the left envisions, that puts us in the NOT FREE category. We become no no more than cogs in the collective state machine. By definition, individual rights fly out the window in such an environment. You can't do your own thing in a totalitarian country. You have to do what they tell you to do.
I don't know how anyone in America, of all places, embraces this left-wing contradiction, but somehow they do. This contradiction is also what makes the word 'liberal' such an oxymoron. In America today, left-wingers are called liberals, but the word 'liberal' means 'liberty'. It is supposed to be an ideology supporting freedom and individual rights, but as soon as the subject turns to economics, American liberals turn into fascist dictators. Their incessant class warfare rhetoric is but a manifestation of their inner fascist. They don't believe in freedom. They believe in control.
This brings me to recent comments made by wannabe glorious dictator Michael Moore, who exemplifies the left-wing attitude I'm calling Eat The Rich. Moore is a true believer. He believes the solution to our economic problems is to take the money away from those who have it, and give it to those who don't have it. Voila ! Problem solved, right ? The following video examines how well this would work:
If we took all the assets away from all the billionaires in this country, it wouldn't even cover this year's deficit. We'd have the same trillion dollar deficit problem again next year, and the debt would keep right on rising. As former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once said, "the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money".
The only thing we'd ultimately accomplish by eating the rich is to destroy jobs and investment, which would throw up a major roadblock to what truly can save us... invention and economic growth. Left-wingers see the rich as taking wealth away from the rest of us, but they never stop to consider that the rich are also CREATING WEALTH for the rest of us. In my own case, IBM and Bill Gates did a heck of a lot more for me than Barack Obama or any other President ever did. Those people aren't the enemy. They are some of what made this country great. I know Bill Gates has a bazillion times more money than I do, but who cares ? He deserves it. I don't know if you can even calculate the number of jobs he and others like him have created. It has to be in the millions. Where would we be if left-wingers had confiscated all his money as soon as he started becoming successful ? We'd be a whole lot worse off, but at least the lefties could crow about how they reduced the income gap between the rich and the rest of us (because we'd all be much poorer). Lefties habitually look at things from the wrong perspective when it comes to economics, because, judging from everything I have seen, they don't understand economics. In fact, as they are reading this, I guarantee you they are only wondering why I'm such a Republican shil for the rich. They might also be wondering if I got my ideas here from Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh. They are pretty sure it's one of those two, or maybe Sean Hannity. That's nothing but their usual method of debate by distraction. It's just smoke and mirrors, part of the minstrel show. It's designed to remove one's thoughts from the actual issues being raised. It's their way of arguing without having a rational argument. Sorry lefties, but none of that has anything to do with anything. I'm not shilling for the rich. I'm not channeling Fox News or the Koch brothers (I barely know who the Koch brothers are). What I'm shilling for is liberty and opportunity, and that has everything to do with everything. Without those, we're doomed.
