By David King Published: September 30, 2013

The federal government will shut down at midnight and the United States will sink into the sea, unless Congress approves a Continuing  Budget Resolution (CR) to fund the government today.

Or so we're told.

GOP Dreaming The Impossible Dream

By David King Published: September 28, 2013

They say politics is the art of the possible, but the GOP's attempt to defund ObamaCare is impossible. They simply don't have the votes. They don't have the power to do it. ObamaCare is going into effect, whether America likes it or not. I don't like it, but that's the way it is. The end.

Therefore, what we have going on regarding passage of the Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government is pure political theater. The Republican-led House passed a CR that omitted the funding of ObamaCare. Cute, but merely symbolic. Then the Democrat-led Senate passed a CR that added ObamaCare funding back in. Take that, GOP. The GOP produced a list of demands they wanted in order to approve the coming debt ceiling increase, everything from approval of the Keystone pipeline to rolling back Dodd-Frank. Counterpunch. Obama said he won't negotiate. Stalemate. Impasse...and now it's ON. Cue the hyper-partisan rhetoric and screaming teevee talking heads. Partisan clowns are calling other partisan clowns "terrorists", "hostage takers", etc. What a ridiculous, overblown spectacle.

ObamaCon

By David King Published: September 25, 2013

Every con man has a pitch. Here was Obama's health care pitch, circa 2008-2010:

"we're gonna reduce costs an average of $2500 per family on premiums".

Founded By Geniuses, Run By Idiots

By David King Published: September 24, 2013

I was going to write a blog entry today, but instead, I'm heading to the park. In lieu of my usual (cough) brilliance, I'm going to print something that is often misattributed to the comedian Jeff Foxworthy. Regardless of who originally wrote it, it it nonetheless noteworthy. It's called A Country Founded By Geniuses But Run By Idiots:

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and ...remaining in the country illegally — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

Artificial America

By David King Published: September 19, 2013

As America manuevers through year five of the Total Economic Fantasyland phase of her existence, we have yet another debt ceiling "crisis" approaching. Like the previous debt celing crises, which we miraculously managed to survive, this one too will be marked by partisan politicians running around in circles, waving their arms, and jockeying for a partisan edge. After much hullaballoo, an 11th hour deal will be struck.  The mainstream media (being Democrat), will decide, as it invariably does, that the Democrats won the battle, and the Republicans lost. Fox News and Talk Radio may dissent. Alternately, the government could shut down for a short period, and then the Republicans would lose BIG (with the media). Nothing will really change.

Until a deal is reached, partisan poseurs like President Obama will utter boilerplate semantical contradictions masquerading as intelligence, as Obama did when he said:

Obama Pushes Doctors To Violate Hippocratic Oath

By David King Published: September 16, 2013

The Hippocratic Oath is one of the oldest documents in history. It's principles are held sacred by doctors. Barack Obama could care less. He's pushing doctors to violate the Hippocratic Oath.

A doctor swears in the Oath that he/she "will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know".

Big Brother Collects Your Credit Card Data

By David King Published: September 15, 2013

It's bad enough that the federal government is collecting and searching all our e-mails and phone records. Now, thanks to the Dodd-Frank bill championed by the Democrats and signed into law by President Obama, Big Brother is now collecting our credit card data as well. Dodd-Frank established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which is engaged in the following activities:

CFPB officials are seeking to monitor four out of every five U.S. consumer credit card transactions this year — up to 42 billion transactions – through a controversial data-mining program, according to documents obtained by the Washington Examiner.

Obama Looking For A Way Out

By David King Published: September 12, 2013

After bungling Middle East policy for 4 1/2 years on nearly every front, President Obama has been looking for a way out of his "red lines" tough talk about Syrian President Bashar Assad's alleged use of chemical weapons. That's why Obama switched course and decided he wanted Congress to vote on a Syrian attack after first saying he didn't need a vote. That's why Obama had Secretary Of State Lurch and others downplay the size of the attack. That's why Obama even went as far as saying it was somebody else who spouted that tough talk about "red lines", not him. Unfortunately for our President, we have cameras and recording devices that prove it was indeed Obama (Curses. Foiled again !)

It became even more obvious that Obama was looking for a way out following his speech about Syria. In a nutshell, the President said it is a moral imperative for the United States to act against Assad...and that's why we won't. Obama wants Congress to delay it's vote on attacking Syria, and he wants to pursue the laughable Russian proposal instead, where Assad would supposedly hand over the chemical weapons that Assad claims he doesn't have. Good one. That proposal has "con job" written all over it.

Obama Administration Lifted Restrictions On NSA

By David King Published: September 9, 2013

Back when Sen. Barack Obama was running for President, he promised to reverse post-9/11 Bush era wiretapping policies. Obama promised there would be "no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens", saying the Bushies were "putting forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we provide."

That was the phony Obama, the speechifying political opportunist.
