Political Reasons

For this blog post, I'd like to introduce you to the liberal voice inside my head (yes, there are voices inside my head) , who I'll refer to as Lib-erace. He screams left-wing talking points in my ear whenever I write anything that goes against progressive theology.  As you can imagine, Lib-erace screams at me A LOT. Befitting his name, my Lib-erace is a whiny, flamboyant fellow. He is prone to shrill fits of hysteria and rage. Unlike his namesake, however, my Lib-erace doesn't have any talent, which is unfortunate. If he could play Moonlight Sonata or a few Chopin nocturnes in my ear, he'd be a lot more welcome.  Sometimes I  laugh at and talk back to Lib-erace, which causes people on the bus to shy away and look at me funny. I am currently NOT taking any medication for my disorder, which I call Liberal Irritable Howl Syndrome (LIHS, pronounced "lies"), though once I drank a little too much and started talking to the portraits of former Presidents hanging on the walls of my big white house. No wait, that was Nixon, not me. Hmmm. Maybe I should be on medication...oh well.

Mandatory Cruel And Unusual Punishment

In 2004, 24-year old record producer Weldon Angelos sold eight ounces of marijuana to a government informant. Angelos had a gun strapped to his ankle at the time. He did not use or brandish the weapon, which Angelos said he carried for self-defense. Later, the same transaction was repeated. Angelos sold another eight ounces of pot in another government-arranged sale. Angelos carried his ankle gun for that sale as well. A third government-arranged eight ounce marijuana sale took place at Angelos' home. The police then arrested Mr. Angelos, and found guns in his house.

Angelos was convicted of three counts of selling drugs, and for carrying a gun in commission of his crimes. There was no violence involved in any of these crimes, and Mr. Angelos had no prior arrests.

Trying to make left wingers understand that their policies depress economic growth, inhibit job creation, shrink wages, and raise prices is no easy task. It requires some heavy lifting. Left wingers are so focused on providing feelgood direct assistance to the "little guy" that they miss the larger implications of their economic policies, which ironically harm the little guy the most. I suppose this is what happens when emotions trump logic in decision-making, and it's why I refer to left wingers as Level One thinkers on economic matters. They desperately need to get to Level Two. Perhaps then people like Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) won't go around saying ridiculous thinkgs, like how unemployment is such a big economic stimulus (correct answer - EMPLOYMENT is a big economic stimulus). I try to keep hope alive, but it ain't easy when so much iNANity is being spouted.

In my ongoing public service efforts to educate liberals about economic matters, I turn today to ObamaCare and it's effect on business. The Case Against Gay Marriage

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America" -  Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America

The Preamble states the reasons we establish government. Most of those reasons boil down to one overriding reason - in the American tradition, government exists primarily to secure our liberties. We have a military to "provide for the common defence" in order to secure our collective liberty. We have police departments to "insure domestic tranquiity" in order to protect both our collective and individual liberty. We "establish Justice" through our court system to protect liberty.

Budget SNAFU

For years, I've wondered why anyone takes House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) seriously. Virtually every time I hear the woman speak, I want to cringe at the vapidity emanating from her blowhole. Her latest utterance was no exception. Here's San Fran Nan opining on the budget:

“By and large,  the approach the Republicans take is that they are there to shrink the role of government to the point where it really recalls to mind a statement of President Washington who cautioned about a political party at war with its own government...we [Democrats] don’t want any more government than we need,  but we respect the public role: public private partnerships, and putting a referee on the field . . . to monitor clean air, clean water, food safety; a cop on the beat for the protection of our neighborhoods.”

Thursday...Or Is It ?

On the same day the new Pope was chosen, physicists announced the discovery of the God particle.

Coincidence ? Heck no. It's more likely the new Pope's first miracle, akin to Moses parting the Red Sea, Jesus walking on water, or Democrats coming up with a non-government solution. Such miracles are exceedingly rare outside the Las Vegas magician community, and should not be taken lightly. I, for one, am happy to get this confirmation that Catholicism is the one true religion. It means I didn't waste my childhood being exposed to those other religions, the false pagan ones. What a stroke of luck.

Rumors Of Senate's Life Greatly Exaggerated

Looking For The Austerity...

As the sequester is poised to take effect at midnight, the word of the day is "austerity", as in "America is embarking on a path of austerity with the sequester spending cuts". That's what I keep hearing from our nation's vaunted deep-thinking experts, most of whom coincidentally look very attractive on television.

I've been looking all over for this alleged austerity, and with all due respect to our politicians and hell. We're nowhere near to austerity. I'm forced to repeat some numbers to refresh the memories of certain people regarding spending.
