Day Four - Mitt Romney

By David King Published: August 31, 2012

During this week's Republican National Convention (RNC), we got to see the stars and rising stars of the GOP, and I have to admit, it's a pretty impressive group. Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, Condi Rice, Mia Love, Susana Martinez...each one impressed me in one way or another, and I'm not easily impressed by politicians. To be frank, most politicians make my skin crawl. My general libertarian view of the federal government is that the government should defend the country, enforce our laws, do basic planning and infrastructure, provide a safety net for those who can't take care of themselves, and then the government should get out of the way. Politicians are not meant to be our masters, not in this country. As Clint Eastwood said onstage last night, "we own this country". The politicians work for us. We don't work for them. That's the great thing about America, but lately, it seems like things have gotten turned around. Lately, an idea has taken hold that Washington, D.C. should run our lives for us, as expressed in Obama's cradle-to-grave nanny state video, The Life Of Julia. The problem is, when the government holds your hand throughout your entire life, it also chains your wrists. Your decisions are made for you, rather than you making decisions for yourself. Your choices are removed. You become a ward of the state. Your earnings are taken away because the government needs them and knows best how your money should be spent. In essence, we the people become infantilized. We become serfs in the new feudal system created by our federal, state, and local government overlords. Opportunity is curtailed. These ideas are anathema to the founding principles of this country, and they transform the Land Of Opportunity into the Land Of Big Brother. If any group of people on earth should be repulsed by these ideas, it should be the American people, because we should know better from our own history,  and from the history of the world around us. We know these are the wrong ideas.

What does this have to do with the RNC and the upcoming presidential election ? It has everything to do with it. We have one group of politicians who have the wrong ideas for America. That group wants to force you to buy health insurance, create massive government dependency, tax business and success at prohibitive rates, redistribute your wealth, create a massive centralized government, consolidate power, and usurp the Constitution. This is the group currently running our country, and the results are predictable - a weak economy, high unemployment, either massive debt or massive tax increases, rising prices, rising poverty, etc. And don't think I'm just talking about Obama here. I include the previous administration in this category as well. Government spending, debt, and dependency all rose under Bush as well. I consider Bush to be the precursor that opened the door for Obama, because Bush, despite his expansive government spending poiicies, was somehow still categorized as a conservative. Bush called it compassionate conservatism. I call it liberalism, or neo-conservatism...I'm still trying to figure out what was conservative about Bush's economics. It takes more than tax cuts to make a conservative. Then we elected Obama, which I described at the time as going from the frying pan into the fire. I'm sad to report that is exactly what has occurred. We are in the fire, and it's a four-alarmer, burning down our collelctive house.

Day Three - Paul Ryan

By David King Published: August 30, 2012

But first, here's yet ANOTHER instance of despicable media bias. A so-called reporter named David Chalian, who was a former political director at ABC News and currently worked for Yahoo News, was overheard saying Romney is "happy to have a party when black people drown". Unfortunately for Chalian, his sick comments were caught on air during a live ABC convention newscast, and Yahoo has terminated him. Our media doesn't like it when their paper thin veneer of objectivity is stripped away, so Chalian had to go.

VP nominee Paul Ryan (R-WI) took center stage at the convention last night. Here is a transcript of his speech, and here are some of his key comments:

Day Two - Chris Christie

By David King Published: August 29, 2012

Before I get into Gov. Christie's Keynote Address at the Republican National Convention last night, I want to mention something related to my previous post about teevee media bias and failure. NBC, the worst offender in the area of television media bias by far, put tuesday night's RNC speeches on it's NBC Politics website. However, NBC being NBC, they only listed the speeches made by WHITE people at the convention. Conveniently omiitted were all speeches made by GOP people of color last night, which included the speeches by  former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis, a black American who switched to the GOP after being disgusted with Obama; Mia Love, a black candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Utah; and Texas senatorial hopeful Ted Cruz, a Latino American. Following suit was MSNBC, which only aired speeches by white people. MSNBC cut away to commentary from Rachel Maddow every time a person of color spoke.

Way to go, NBC. What better way to portray the GOP as the party of whitey than to cut non-whites from your coverage. As I informed my readers yesterday, watch the convention on C-SPAN if you desire anything close to honesty. You definitely won't get that from NBC.

Exciting Day One Convention Coverage !!!

By David King Published: August 28, 2012

Day one of the Republican National Convention was cancelled due to tropical storm Isaac. So much for excitement.

Congratulations to the Republican braintrust for deciding to hold their convention in Florida during hurricane season. What a master stroke. Unnamed sources (the same ones Harry Reid uses) tell me Florida was actually the backup choice for the convention, and was booked only after plans fell through to hold it earlier in Tornado Alley. Next week, the Democrats will hold their convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Those unnamed sources tell me Obama's political stomping grounds in the Democratic stronghold of Chicago were under consideration, until Chicago morphed into the American version of Somalia.

Medicare Wars And Ideological Blinders

By David King Published: August 19, 2012

One of the many strange things about this presidential campaign season is the way both campaigns are blasting their opponents over Medicare cuts. The Obama campaign accuses Romney/Ryan of wanting to push grandma over the cliff and destroy Medicare, and the Romney campaign blasts Obama for cutting $716 billion from Medicare. In essence, both sides are condemning the other side for the same things they are advocating themselves. Quite odd and hypocritical, but that's politics, I guess. If anything, you'd think the GOP ticket would be CONGRATULATING Obama for his Medicare cuts rather than opposing them and using them in an attempt to scare seniors. Scaring seniors is supposed to be the Democrat game. The GOP side is supposed to be the adult in the room that admits we have a big problem with entitlement promises and goes about proposing solutions. The Democrat position on the coming entitlement crisis thus far has largely been to deny the existence of mathematics and hope nobody notices the absurdity of that position.

Back in 2009, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) pointed out the following:

Left Longing For Banana Republic

By David King Published: August 14, 2012

American left-wingers believe a person should be able to walk into any voting place on election day, say any name to the poll worker, whether it is the person's own name or not, and if the name appears on the list of registered voters, the poll worker must hand over a ballot and let that person vote. If I went into the Washington D.C. polling place and said my name was Barack Obama, left-wingers think I should be able to vote as Barack Obama. Crazy, I know.

Left-wingers also believe it is some kind of conspiratorial plot when dead voters and illegal voters are purged from the voter rolls, which is why Obama's Attorney General, Eric "Fast And Furious" Holder, sued the state of Florida in an attempt to stop that state from purging the dead and illegals from it's voter rolls. Hard to believe, but he did it.

Battling Tax Plans

By David King Published: August 13, 2012

President Obama has produced a nifty little calculator on his website to show people how much they will benefit from Obama's tax plan versus Mitt Romney's tax plan. You can plug in your family's income, and Obama helpfully shows you how much money his tax plan will save your family, and how much Romney's plan will cost your family (unless you're a very rich family.  In that case, Romney's plan is your best friend, according to Obama). For example, if you're married with two dependent children and your family makes $45,000 per year, Obama happily reports that his good plan will save you $2,720 per year, while Romney's evil plan will raise your taxes by $431 per year.

That would be helpful, except for one minor little detail. Like almost everything else Obama tells you, you have to be dumber than a box of rocks to believe it.

It's Paul Ryan For VP

By David King Published: August 12, 2012

Here's what Romney's choice for VP, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), said at a Wisconsin rally after the announcement was made:

President Obama, and too many like him in Washington, have refused to make difficult decisions because they are more worried about their next election than they are about the next generation...the commitment Mitt Romney and I make to you is this: We won’t duck the tough issues…we will lead !"

This Year's Real Deficit Is...$11 Trillion

By David King Published: August 9, 2012

I read an article by two Bloomberg economists that immediately caught my eye with this opening line:

Republicans and Democrats spent last summer battling how best to save $2.1 trillion over the next decade. They are spending this summer battling how best to not save $2.1 trillion over the next decade.

Obama Campaign Sinks To New Low

By David King Published: August 8, 2012

Just when I thought nothing in the political realm could shock me, something has. I have had very little free time lately, but I had to make some time to report this.

Obama's SuperPAC, Priorities USA, aired a campaign ad that dishonestly and disgustingly blamed Mitt Romney for the death of a woman who died from cancer. This is the most vile campaign ad I've seen in my entire life, and it illustrates the kind of human garbage working for the President. There is NO excuse for airing something so reprehensible and false. Do these people have any morals, any character whatsoever ? It seems not.

This And That

By David Published: August 3, 2012

Politics is usually accompanied by a massive amount of...how can I put it nicely ?...um, bull excrement, but during presidential election years the excrement becomes so much deeper. This year is no different. I find myself exhausted by the nonstop stream of excrement being hurled at us by the politicos. I've already tuned out the political ads on television, and the incessant political ads running during commercial breaks at NBC's London Olympics coverage is flat out beginning to piss me off. There's something about Gabby Douglas, Missy Franklin, or Michael Phelps winning a gold meda for the USA, only to be immediately followed up by some lying political hack slinging his lying political hackery, that just feels wrong.  It tarnishes the moment, and the lying political hacks should know better. Not everything is about them. I would be quite happy to experience at least one Olympic commercial break without seeing Obama's face, and hearing his voice tell me for the umpteenth time that he's all about guaranteeing a better future for the middle class by "investing" in everything under the sun and raising taxes on the rich. We get it already, Mr. President. We got it the first ten thousand times you said it. At least try to find something new to say. It's like your speech writers ran out of material four years ago. Your "failed policies of the past" material is getting really stale, especiallly since you've been in office for 3 1/2 years now. The failed policies of the present are seeming slightyly more important these days.

Speaking of bull excrement, Senate Majority Liar Harry Reid (D-NV) said he heard from numerous super-secret sources that Republican nominee Mitt Romney didn't pay any income taxes for ten years straight. It's interesting that Reid picked ten years as the time period Romney allegedly didn't pay taxes, because the Democrats are calling for Romney to release ten years of back tax records. What a coincidence. When Reid was asked for proof of his allegations, he responded, “I don’t think the burden should be on me.“The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes.". See how that works ? First, Reid makes an allegation he won't back up, and then he calls on Romney to prove it isn't true. That reminds me, I've heard from several unnamed sources that Harry Reid is a pedophile who robs church poor boxes and beats his wife. I can't prove any of this, of course, but the burden is on Reid to prove he didn't do it.
