The progressive Salon website wrote an article titled "Let's Hope The Boston Marathon Bomber Is A White American". No kidding. They really did. Curious as to why race would matter to this liberal braintrust (by" braintrust", I mean i trust they have brains, despite all evidence to the contrary), I found the following bizarre logic:
"white male privilege means white men are not collectively denigrated/targeted for [mass killings] — even though most come at the hands of white dudes. Likewise, in the context of terrorist attacks, such privilege means white non-Islamic terrorists are typically portrayed not as representative of whole groups or ideologies, but as “lone wolf” threats to be dealt with as isolated law enforcement matters".
WIth all due respect, this is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard.
Salon is trying to say that when a white guy kills a bunch of people, like Timothy McVeigh or James Holmes did, there is no backlash against whites as a group. On the other hand, when a non-white kills a a bunch of people, like Seung Hui Cho did at Virginia Tech, we blamed all Asians. No wait, we didn't do that at all. We only blamed Seung Hui Cho. So much for Salon's "white privilege" theory.
We treated Seung Hui Cho as a lone wolf attack BECAUSE IT WAS A LONE WOLF ATTACK, as were the attacks of Timothy McVeigh and James Holmes. It has nothing to do with "white privilege". We treat Islamic jihadist attacks differently precislely because they are NOT lone wolf attacks. 9/11 was planned and executed BY AN IDEOLOGICALLY-DRIVEN TERRORIST GROUP, namely Al Qaeda. To the race-obsessed whizbangs at Salon, I say this - we treat lone wolf attacks as lone wolf attacks, and we treat group attacks as group attacks. Perhaps Salon didn't notice, but when there have been attacks by white groups, such as the Weather Underground, we blamed THE WHOLE GROUP, the whole ideology of violence. And last time I checked, the Nazis were white too. In the case of 9/11, our government officials went out of their way to say we didn't blame all Muslims. Apparently, that was all lost on Salon.
I always marvel at the way liberals put issues through their politically correct race-based flowchart. It goes something like this - "If the perp is white, go to A) punishment. If the perp is black, go to B) blame the police. If police cannot be blamed, go to C) blame whitey/society. If the perp is Muslim, go to D) blame U.S. policy, and E) find one example of intolerant backlash to blame whitey." If you notice, all paths ultimately lead back to "blame whitey". My liberal blogger pal The Reverend wrote one such race-based post today, where he slices and dices everything and everyone up according to skin color. Liberals can't help themselves, they mentally classify everything according to race, or according to wealth. That's why they always hear racist "code words" and "dog whistles" that nobody else hears. MSNBC's Chris Matthews even thought the word "Chicago" was some kind of racist code. Such thinking borders on mental disorder.
I don't know why liberals do these things, unless their purpose is to divide America. If that's the purpose....you're doing a heckuva job, liberals. Also, I hate you. People are individual people, not collective skin colors. All this liberal race-based thinking strikes me a being decidedly RACIST. Liberals not only see "the other", they are obsessed with it. They can't see anything else. Their racist thinking also shows up whenever they see a minority who doesn't fit the profile for how minorities are supposed to think, according to liberal dogma. For example, when liberals see a black conservative or a Latino conservative, words like "token" and "Uncle Tom" pop into theri pointy little racist heads. In the Reverend's post, he called Sen. Marco Rubio the "GOP's Great Non-White Hope". He also accused the GOP of hating Michael Steele, and said they only made him the GOP Chairman because he was black. It's very bizarre, but this is the twisted way in which liberals think of minorities who don't fit the behavioral box liberals have constructed for them. On the other hand, when liberals promote non-whites into positions of authority, they pat themselves on the back for their diversity and inclusion. Notice the double standard liberals apply when different groups (Democrats vs. Republicans) pursue the same course of action regarding minorities. That's part of the perverse liberal race-based flowchart too.
CBS has reported that there is a possible white male suspect in the bombing. That should make Salon happy. If he does indeed turn out to be the perpetrator, and if he belongs to some right wing group (Salon says, "oh pleeeeease !!!"), guess what Salon will do ??? If you answered, "blame the whole group", then you win a cigar. In fact, Salon will go beyond that. They weill blame the entire Tea Party and the entire GOP. Their "don't blame the group" message will fly out the window in a heartbeat. But if the guy belongs to a left-wing group, then Salon will say he doesn't represent any larger belief held by the left. They will say he's just a, you know,...lone wolf.
