"I am not in favor of concealed weapons. There has not been any evidence that allowing people to carry a concealed weapon is going to make anybody safer." -- Barack Obama
Alrighty then. All Obama's Secret Service agents must turn in their concealed weapons, asap.
"For the amount spent [on Obama's $816 billion stimulus bill], we could have given every unemployed person in the United States roughly $75,000. We could give every person who had lost a job and is now passing through long-term unemployment of six months or longer roughly $300,000." -- actor, writer, and economist Ben Stein
Yes, Ben, but it wouldn't reward all the Democratic constituencies that voted The One into office. Therefore, your idea is "divisive."
"I say, cut the U.S. corporate tax rate -- at 35%, among the highest of all industrialized nations -- in half. Suspend the capital gains tax for a year to incentivize new investment, after which it would be reimposed at 10%. Then get out of the way! Once Wall Street starts ticking up 500 points a day, the rest of the private sector will follow. There's no reason to tell the American people their future is bleak. There's no reason, as the administration is doing, to depress their hopes. There's no reason to insist that recovery can't happen quickly, because it can." --radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh
No wonder Mr. Obama doesn't want people to listen to Rush Limbaugh.
Limbaugh makes sense, and offers, dare I say.....HOPE.
"Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter." --ex-Sen. Tom Daschle, May 7, 1998
Yes, unless that tax cheat is Tom Daschle.
Henry Morgenthau, FDR's Treasury secretary, commenting on the failure of the New Deal to restore prosperity: "We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started and an enormous debt to boot!"
Looks like it's deja vu all over again.
"Didn't you ever wonder if the witch doctors themselves thought dropping a virgin in the volcano would really bring good crops? I'm thinking they didn't. But it kept them in their witch-doctor jobs and gave them a few final moments in private with the virgins. And that, boys and girls, is how government works." --columnist Randall Hoven
Now, that's not fair. I'm told the Senate removed the 'drop a virgin in the volcano' provision from the stimulus bill....they couldn't find any Democrat virgins (rimshot).
The state of California is so broke that it's issuing IOU's instead of tax refund checks to taxpayers. I urge all American citizens who owe money to the government to do the same come April 15th. I'm sure the government will understand that we can't afford to pay our taxes during these difficult economic times. Or maybe we should tell the government we won't pay until they remove the tens of billions in waste from Obama's stimulus package. That might get the government's attention. Besides, with Obama's cabinet appointments, we've found out paying taxes is optional. Finally, an Obama policy I can support. Yes We Can !
Remember Barack Obama's pledge to make government transparent ? Remember his pledge to post bills online to achieve that transparency, so America could see what was being voted upon ? Well, it seems transparency has collided with reality. The first bill Obama signed, the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, was not posted online for anyone to see. Maybe they just missed that one. But how about the stimulus package ? That's the biggest bill ever. Certainly they'll post that one as part of the transparency effort, right ?
Not quite. If you go to the recovery.gov website, you are informed: “Check back after the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to see how and where your tax dollars are spent.”
So, only after the bill is passed and the citizens can no longer do anything about it will "transparency" kick in. Thanks for nothing. Power slaps truth upside the head one....more....time.
"It came out today that the House Democratic Caucus spent $500,000 of taxpayer money for retreats at luxury resorts and spas -- though Democrats say that the time was used for "strategic planning for the country." Really? Then what's the Capitol building for?" - Jay Leno
When will the Democratic Caucus be ridiculed in front of Congress like the bankers were ?
"I bet after seeing us, George Washington would sue us for calling him "father."" - Will Rogers
