About This Blog
When I first heard about the plans to build an Islamic mosque a few yards from the 9/11 Ground Zero site, I thought it was a joke, somebody doing a bit of inappropriate satire. But with truth being more and more strange than fiction these days, I soon realized it wasn't a joke.
I'm wondering how many Americans feel like the European man in the following video....
Question - If the guy in the above video got anything wrong, what was it ?
To my knowledge, our President has not weighed in on the Ground Zero mosque. If anyone knows differently, please clue me in. I'd love to hear O's opinion on this.
On a related note, The One finally did make a statement about the Israel-Gaza flotilla conflict. Here's what he said on Larry King's show:
The United States, with the other members of the U.N. Security Council, said very clearly that we condemned all the acts that led up to this violence. It was a tragic situation. You've got loss of life that was unnecessary. So we are calling for an effective investigation of everything that happened. I think the Israelis are going to agree to that — an investigation of international standards — because they recognize that this can't be good for Israel's long-term security.
I think that we need to know what all the facts are, but it's not premature to say to the Israelis and to say to the Palestinians, and to say to all the parties in the region, that the status quo is unsustainable. We have been trying to do this piecemeal for decades now. It just doesn't work.
You've got a situation in which Israel has legitimate security concerns, when they've got missiles raining down on cities along the Israel/Gaza border. I've been to those towns and seen the holes that were made by missiles coming through people's bedrooms. Israel has a legitimate concern there. On the other hand you've got a blockage up that is preventing people in Palestinian Gaza from having job opportunities and being able to create businesses and engage in trade and have opportunity for the future.
This is quintessential Obama. How can he not realize, or at least state openly, that the REASON for the Gaza blockade IS the missiles raining down from Hamas-led Gaza on Israel ? This isn't a 50/50 situation, where Israel is half-right and Hamas is half-right. There could be peace in the Middle East tomorrow if the Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran-Syria-Palestinian coalition would agree to lay down their arms and co-exist peaefully with Israel. It's been that way for DECADES. It's always been the Arab side that refuses to allow Israel to exist in peace. There will be no peace until that changes (or until Israel is destroyed). The clearest statement of the problem that I've heard to date came from former Clinton advisor Dick Morris, who said (and I paraphrase), "If Hamas stops fighting, war ceases to exist. If Israel stops fighting, Israel ceases to exist." Any questions ?
With the United Nations and many European countries condemning Israel over the Gaza Flotilla tragedy, and with President Obama, who represents Israel's biggest ally, sitting on the fence (emboldening Israel's enemies), I have to wonder if we've lost sight of the big picture here, of what is really trying to be accomplished by the anti-Israel factions. I also wonder if the aforementioned Islamization of Europe (and the UN) (and the US ?) has something to do with it.
P.S. - The profanity is starting to get out of hand on this blog. I'm as much to blame as anyone for it. Could everyone please try to tone it down ? Thank you.
