I don't understand why people support President Obama, unless it's out of some sense of misguided tribal loyalty. By any objective measure, Obama has done a terrible job as President, but for some reason, liberals and Democrats want to re-elect him. Why ??? If Bush was still the President and had done everything Obama has done, I doubt you could find a Democrat in the country to support him. So what gives ? Is party (tribe) really THAT important ? Is it more important than country, the Constitution, fiscal sanity, and honesty ???
If any of you are confused as to what I mean here, allow me to explain. Let's play the 'What If His Name Was Bush ?' game. Imagine Bush was still the President, and had done what Obama has done. Would you still support these things ?...
What if his name was Bush, and he ran up $5 trillion in new debt during his first term ?
What if his name was Bush, and he ran annual deficits between $1.2-$1.6 trillion every single year of his presidency, with those deficits being the four highest deficits in the history of the country ?
What if his name was Bush, and he had no plan to balance the budget, and the budget plan he did produce projected a deficit of over $700 billion in the year 2022 ?
What if his name was Bush, and he had net job losses of 2 million during his first term, with the unemployment rate higher than when he took office, and the lowest workforce participation rate in decades ?
What if his name was Bush, and he had no plan to address the unfunded Social Security and Medicare entitlements that are going to swamp us financially ?
What if his name was Bush, and instead of addressing the current unsustainable entitlements, he added a brand new huge entitlement to the mix ?
What if his name was Bush, and the federal government borrowed 43 cents out of every dollar it spends, with much of that borrowing coming from China ?
What if his name was Bush, and he started a new war in Libya without the consent of Congress and in violation of both the Constitution and the War Powers Act ?
What if his name was Bush, and he forced people to purchase health insurance in violation of the Constitution, by perverting the Commerce Clause and ignoring the Tenth Amendment ?
What if his name was Bush, and he used unmanned drones to bomb any country he felt like bombing ?
What if his name was Bush, and he issued a secret memo stating that he can assassinate American citizens without a trial ?
What if his name was Bush, and he spent $800 billion on a stimulus package that was sold as "shovel-ready projects" to get people back to work, and then only six percent of the money went to shovel-ready projects ?
What if his name was Bush, and he later laughed and joked about how those shovel-ready projects weren't so shovel-ready after all ? Would you think that was funny ?
What if his name was Bush, and when he was a Senator, he voted in favor of infanticide four times by voting against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act ?
What if his name was Bush, and he blatantly lied about who pays the lion's share of income taxes in America ?
What if his name was Bush, and he said he would close Guantanamo Bay in his first year in office, and then he didn't do it ?
What if his name was Bush, and he was building a new $750,000 soccer field for the detainees at Guantanamo ?
What if his name was Bush, and he spoke endlessly about the "failed policies of the past" while continuing almost every one of those policies ?
What if his name was Bush, and he promised to renegotiate NAFTA on the campaign trail, but once in office he forgot all about that campaign promise, and instead negotiated more free trade agreements with other countries ?
What if his name was Bush, and he campaigned on an anti-Iraq war platform, promising to end that war during his first year in office, and then did nothing but follow his predecessor's withdrawal plan to end the war in three years ?
What if his name was Bush, and he ramped up the Afghanistan war ?
What if his name was Bush, and he withdrew support for the Egyptian President, resulting in a takeover of Egypt by Islamist factions ?
What if his name was Bush, and the Islamists running Egypt were holding nineteen Americans hostage while the President (and the media) ignores the situation ?
What if his name was Bush, and instead of demanding the release of the American hostages, he was apologizing to Muslims over the burning of Korans that were being used to funnel jihadist messages in Afghanistan ?
What if his name was Bush, and while America was importing about half it's oil, much of it from hostile Middle Eastern countries, the President cut offshore domestic oil production, rejected the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada, and rejected drilling in Alaska ?
What if his name was Bush, and the President stated that domestic oil production was up, while not telling us that it's up mainly on PRIVATE lands, that federal oil leases have declined by 40%, that the previous President actually issued the leases that do exist, that fewer federal oil leases were issued in 2010 than in any year since 1984, and that only ONE offshore oil lease was sold in 2011 ? What if his name was Bush, and he appointed an Energy Czar who said he wanted gasoline to cost between $7-9 per gallon ?
I could go on all day long with more examples of Obama's failures. These are just a few of the examples I could think of off the top of my head this morning. I can't think of any reason to re-elect Obama, except that he did make the right call to get Bin Laden, and he did get those Somali pirates. That hardly makes up for everything else, and hardly makes up for the path of destruction he has set this country upon...or maybe I'm just a racist hater and none of the things I described above actually happened. All you Obama supporters can pretend that's the case, if for some reason it will make you feel better about supporting the worst President in American history.
