Don't Spy On Congress, Just Spy On The American People

By David King Published: March 14, 2014

Earlier this week, Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) dropped the bombshell accusation that the CIA hacked her intelligence committee's computers while the committee was investigating the CIA's Bush-era post-9/11 interrogation methods. Feinstein has been a longtime defender of  NSA programs spying on Americans, but she doesn't like it one bit when the spies turn their eyes on her.

Now we have a letter from Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) to Deputy Attorney General James Cole about the CIA spying on members of Congress:

The GSE Shell Game

By David King Published: March 13, 2014

Last month, we were given wonderful news - the taxpayers made a profit on the 2008 housing bailouts !!! Hurrah !!! This happened due to Fannie Mae's alleged return to profitablity. As Reuters breathlessly reported, 'Fannie Mae Profits Push Taxpayers Into Black On Housing Bailout':

Before returning to the black last year, Fannie Mae had suffered five years of losses totaling $164 billion, and it had drawn $116.1 billion in taxpayer aid.

On The ObamaCare Front

By David King Published: March 12, 2014

With the President hawking ObamaCare like he's the Shamwow! guy, it seems like a good time for an update on the state of ObamaCare (I hear some people are calling it the Affordable Care Act, or ACA for short. Note - Obama's ACA is not to be confused with that other ACA, the American Correctional Association...even though they both involve punishment for non-compliance).

The White House is promoting the wonders of ObamaCare, but so far, the American people have not received the "good news". According to the latest CNN poll, 57% oppose ObamaCare, while only 39% support it. RealClearPolitics averaged several recent polls and found ObamaCare underwater by 15.4%. ObamaCare supporters tried to trumpet a Kaiser poll that showed American against repealing the health care law by a margin of 56-31, but the pro-ObamaCare crowd forgot to mention the fact that only 8% of those surveyed thought ObamaCare was fine as-is. A whopping 92% thought ObamaCare should be repealed, replaced, or repaired. That's hardly an endorsement, but I'll give the pro-ObamaCare spin doctors an E for effort. More people in the Kaiser poll voted to replace ObamaCare with the GOP plan than voted to keep ObamaCare as-is. This is notable because the GOP really doesn't have a plan !!! The GOP hasn't passed or even voted on anything to replace ObamaCare. This means more people in the Kaiser poll chose something that doesn't even exist over ObamaCare. On a related note, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) claims the GOP is working on a plan, and they will have that finalized sometime this century.

Stupid Taxes And The Top 1%

By David King Published: March 11, 2014

Prologue - I believe the government shouldn't discriminate against any American citizens (equal protection and all that), but I'm going to throw that out the window for purposes of this post, and I'm going to accept the premise that discriminatory tax policies (progressive tax policies) are just. Most people seem to believe they are. This post is for progressives.

I've been reading some online articles about the top 1%, those allegedly demonic, greedy folks who, according to progressives, are driving income inequality in America and destroying the middle class.

Be An Obama LifeCoach!

By David King Published: March 6, 2014

As part of his new $3.9 trillion budget plan, described by the White House as "another responsible government step geared toward getting the nation's fiscal house in order", President Obama has included an unreported program known as Universal LifeCoach!. In an All Da King's Men world exclusive, I will unveil the details of that program today, but before I do that, I have to take a moment to commend our President for his budget busting spending proposal. As all progressives know, the way to achieve fiscal sustainability and help Americans is for the government to spend all their money and tax them to death. Kudos to Mr. Obama.

The idea for Universal LifeCoach! was sparked when President Obama saw an episode of Lindsay Lohan's new reality show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. The President saw that Lohan, struggling with addiction, was assigned a "sober coach" to help her deal with life. it occurred to Obama that everybody could use a coach, or Big Brother, to help them get through life. Thus, Universal LifeCoach! was born.

Who Was Naive About Russia ?

By David King Published: March 4, 2014

Remember this ?

Back in the 2012 presidential debates between the Republican challenger Mitt Romney and President Obama, Romney said Russia was a geopolitical threat. Obama mocked him. The following exchange took place:

How The Evil Koch Brothers Are Ruining America

By David King Published: March 3, 2014

As mentioned in my last post, progressives believe two evil and greedy guys known as the Koch Brothers are destroying democracy, ruining America, buying elections, killing Bambi, selling drugs to kids in schoolyards, conspiring with Satan, etc. Senate Majority Liar, er, I mean, Leader, Harry Reid (D-NV), accused the Kochs of "buying America". He called them "unAmerican" for having the sheer audacity to oppose President Barack Obama and donate money to like-minded groups. Progressives know this opposition to the great and all-knowing Obama and his Democratic party cannot be tolerated in a free country. They know people don't need TOO many choices in a democracy, when just one choice, the Democrats, would suffice quite nicely. Progressives are just tolerant and inclusive that way.

On behalf of my progressive friends, I'm going to illustrate today exactly how the Koch Brothers are "unAmerican" and "buying America". Are you ready ? This is frightening stuff, so put down your coffee cup before you read the following material.

Political Quotes Of The Week

By David King Published: February 27, 2014

An Honest Liberal: “My view [is] that the president, has in fact, exceeded his authority in a way that is creating a destabilizing influence in a three branch system. I want to emphasize, of course, this problem didn’t begin with President Obama, I was critical of his predecessor President Bush as well, but the rate at which executive power has been concentrated in our system is accelerating. And frankly, I am very alarmed by the implications of that aggregation of power...What also alarms me, however, is that the two other branches appear not just simply passive, but inert in the face of this concentration of authority. The fact that I happen to think the president is right on many of these policies does not alter the fact that I believe the means he is doing [it] is wrong, and that this can be a dangerous change in our system, and our system is changing in a very fundamental way. And it’s changing without a whimper of regret or opposition.” - Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley, testifying before Congress that President Obama is bringing us to "a constitutional tipping point".

Millions Of Americans Are Lying About Higher Health Care Costs For The Koch Brothers, Or Something:  "There are plenty of [Obamacare] horror stories being told. All of them are untrue...These two [Koch] brothers are trying to buy America" - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who claimed the Republicans and Koch Brothers are lying about the Obamacare hardships people are experiencing.

Dodd-Frank And "Too Big To Fail"

By David King Published: February 26, 2014

When progressives disagree with what I write, which is often (because I frequently criticize progressive policies, especially in the areas of business and economics, and I'm no fan of Barack Obama), they generally react with a tirade against Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and the Koch Brothers, as if that unholy trio (in progressive eyes) is somehow directing my words. It's bizarre how often this happens. It's kind of a progressive firewall against actually having to confront unpleasant information they'd rather not think about.

As funny as I find this progressive knee-jerk reaction, especially when I provide links TELLING progressives where my information is coming from (generally not Fox News, and I can't recall ever using Rush or the Kochs as a source), today I'm going to tell progressives what sparked this post, being as concerned for their mental well-being as I am.

Kill The NDAA's Indefinite Incarceration Provision

By David King Published: February 25, 2014

From the ACLU, here's what the NDAA is:

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is a federal law specifying the budget and expenditures of the United States Department of Defense (DOD). Each year's act also includes other provisions, some related to civil liberties.
