Dustin Johnson, the world's No. 16-ranked player, withdrew from the Bridgestone Invitational Monday, citing a personal reason.
Johnson's withdrawal leaves the field for the $9 million World Golf Championships event at 76 players, including 49 of the world's top 50.
Johnson tied for 33rd last year at Firestone South, his fifth appearance in Akron. He stands No. 4 on the FedExCup points list. Johnson has one win, two seconds and seven top 10s in 17 events in 2014, earning $4.2 million.
