First round in books: Australian Day at Bridgestone

Australians ruled the day at Firestone Country Club in the first round of the Bridgestone Invitational. Adam Scott holds the lead at 8 under, including a long birdie putt on No. 17 after his tee shot landed  in the left round.

Countryman Jason Day was atop the leaderboard most of the day, finishing early with a 63, 7 under.

Scott had eight birdies, including a run of three in a row starting on No. 13.

Day had seven birdies as part of his round, including No. 9, where he finished his round.

Nick Watney is in third place at 5 under. He was on the verge of tying for the lead but bogeyed No. 18.

Scott also is playing with former Tiger Woods caddie, Steve Williams.

Phil Mickelson is 3 under, Woods 2 under, Sergio Garcia 2 under.
