Tiger watch: All quiet

By Ron Published: August 4, 2011

You can tell that Tiger Woods is getting ready to hit the course. The media room, home to more than 300 people this week, is nearly empty.

All are about to follow Tiger around Firestone for the next five hours. He tees off in five minutes with Darren Clarke. They are starting on No. 1.

Scoreboard update: Jason Day is finishing up his round  on No. 9 and still maintains the lead at 6 under.

Brandt Snedeker joined the four early golfers who have finished their rounds with 66s.

1:43 p.m.: Tiger's first shot landed in a bunker down the right side of No. 1. As he did that, Jason Day birdied No. 9 and finishes with a 63, good for a three-shot lead at this point.

1:53 p.m.: Day on his round "Don't know if we had a lot of rain but it was softer than early this week."

Special time in Ohio: "It really is good, live two hours south of here. Have a lot of fans out there. It is good to be back."

On lead: "Three more days like this would be fun. But just have to stay patient. I really enjoy playing against the best golfers in the world."

On PGA next week: "Haven't seen the course [in Atlanta]. Very hot there."

1:58 p.m.: Woods parred the first hole.
