No. 3 Ohio State aiming to avoid upset at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich.: Ohio State has put itself in a position to possibly play in the BCS championship.

The third-ranked Buckeyes (11-0, 7-0 Big Ten) are undefeated and heavily favored to stay that way after playing slumping archrival Michigan (7-4, 3-4) on Saturday at the Big House.

COLUMBUS: Ohio State coach Thad Matta has signed four recruits in what some publications are calling one of the top classes in the country.

Jae'Sean Tate, a 6-foot-4 forward from Pinkerington Central High School and David Bell, a 6-10 center from Garfield Heights join the Buckeyes from Ohio.

Ohio State adds power forward commit Payton Dastrup

Ohio State's mens basketball team scored a big recruit on Thursday when Payton Dastrup committed to the Buckeyes.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward is rated as the 19th power forward in the nation and 95th overall player in the 247 composite rankings. He also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young and Virginia. He took a visit to OSU on Oct. 18.

COLUMBUS: After losing shooting star Tayler Hill's 21 points a game and running-mate Amber Stokes who averaged 10, it figures that new Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff will need to rely on the Buckeyes to shut down other teams.

"One of our biggest strengths is going to need to be our defense," said McGuff, a former Xavier coach who was hired away from the University of Washington to replace fired 11-year coach Jim Foster last spring. "We have some size around the basket and enough athleticism on the perimeter to kind of put together a team that can really, really defend.
