For Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, there is a price to success and it is at least $4.2 million.
According to Forbes, Meyer would get at least $4.2 million added to his salary if Ohio State's football team wins a national title and hits an academic goal.
Meyer has already earned an extra $50,000 this year by winning the Big Ten Leaders division. In January, a retention bonus of $450,000 will automatically kick in. That's in Meyer's contract in case he decided to quit coaching or Ohio State fired him. At this point, obviously neither are happening.
Meyer, who makes $4 million annually, gets $250,000 if Ohio State makes it to the BCS National Championship Game. A win on Saturday against Michigan State almost assures it. Even if Ohio State makes one of the four other BCS bowls this year, Meyer will get a $100,000 bonus.
