Despite being in a competition for the starting middle linebgacker job, Ohio State senior Curtis Grant was added to a preseason watch list this week.
Grant was named to the Butkus Award watch list. The award is given annually to the nation's top linebacker.
A former five-star recruit, Grant hasn't lived up to his blue chip status thus far for the Buckeyes. In 15 career starts, Grant has just 62 tackles, four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Incoming freshman Raekwon McMillian is expected to challenge Grant for the starting job inside this fall.
Grant was joined on the watch list by fellow Big Ten linebackers Mike Hull (Penn State), Taiwan Jones (Michigan State), Mason Monheim (Illinois) and Jake Ryan (Michigan).
