Johnny Townsend spurns Ohio State and Alabama, chooses Florida
All of the drama of National Signing Day for Ohio State came down to a punter. That's right, a punter.
Johnny Townsend, rated a two- to three-star specialist, committed to Ohio State in August. But during Wednesday's National Signing Day, word came out that he was strongly considering Alabama.
Instead, Townsend committed to Florida today. Townsend's father, Clay, told the Orlando Sentinel his son wanted to play closer to home. Townsend's brother, Clay Jr., also plays for Florida.
