No. 12 Clemson seeking Orange Bowl redemption

CLEMSON, S.C.: It's been nearly two years and 21 victories and the Clemson Tigers can't wipe away the memories of the drubbing they took the last time they played in the Orange Bowl.

Left tackle Brandon Thomas says the Tigers' 70-33 loss to West Virginia stings to this day, no matter how many accomplishments the team has piled up since.

On the season, Shazier has 134 tackles with 22.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.

There are roughly 436 college football trophies handed out each year. Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller now has one for the 2013 season.

Miller was awarded the Tribune Silver Football for the second consecutive year. The award, which has been around before the Heisman Trophy, goes to the top Big Ten player.

Ohio State, Clemson set for Orange Bowl

HOLLYWOOD, Fla.: Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney spent much of their Orange Bowl news conference praising each other's teams.

Meyer has led the Buckeyes to a 12-1 record this year, losing to Michigan State 34-24 on Saturday night in the Big Ten championship game. Clemson lost two games this season, to top-ranked Florida State and the regular- season finale to South Carolina.

No Heisman Trophy for Braxton Miller

Despite closing the season strong, Ohio State junior quarterback Braxton Miller won't be winning the Heisman Trophy this year.

The finalists for college football's top award were named Monday evening. They are Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, Auburn running back Tre Mason, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron and Boston College running back Andre Williams.

Walsh University student wins $100,000 at Big Ten title game

Walsh University nursing student Molly Brown from Louisville in Stark County won $100,000 by beating one other national finalist in a halftime contest that featured throwing footballs through a hole in giant can of Dr. Pepper.

Brown gained entry into the contest by submitting a video showing how she intends to benefit others with her college education. She was selected as one of five contestants from the Big Ten region.

INDIANAPOLIS: Michigan State shook up the BCS title chase again Saturday night.

The No. 10 Spartans regained the lead on Connor Cook's 9-yard touchdown pass to Josiah Price with 11:41 left and upset No. 2 Ohio State 34-24 to take the Big Ten title and put Auburn back in the national title hunt.

Meyer benches Marcus Hall for Big Ten title game

INDIANAPOLIS: Ohio State coach Urban Meyer will not let right guard Marcus Hall start Saturday night's Big Ten championship game against No. 10 Michigan State.

Meyer said Friday that Hall would be replaced in the lineup by freshman Pat Elflein. Meyer did not say how long Hall would sit out.

In the latest men's basketball USA Today coaches poll, Ohio State has moved up to No. 3 after beating North Fliorida.

The Buckeyes moved up in the rankings following losses by Duke, Kansas and Kentucky just narrowly beating Cleveland State. Ohio State, which is now 6-0 plays at home against Maryland on Wednesday.
