Ohio State adds speedy recruit Taivon Jacobs
(Advance apologies for the terrible music)
According to various reports online today, Ohio State received a verbal commitment from Suitland (Maryland) wide receiver Taivon Jacobs.
Jacobs, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds, is Ohio State's 15th commitment in the 2013 class. Jacobs had offers from most of the top programs in the country and narrowed his choice down to Maryland, West Virginia and Ohio State. HIs brother, Levern Jacobs, is a defensive back at Maryland.
As a junior, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Jacobs had 35 catches for 921 yards and 13 touchdowns. Jacobs is rated by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect.
“Their program is great, their family and tradition is great, and the way they run their offense, I felt like that’s the type of player that I am and that I could be a great fit in,” Jacobs
told the Washington Post.
Many are considering Jacobs to be a Percy Harvin-type of player in Urban Meyer's spread offense at Ohio State. His main position will likely be wide receiver, but Jacobs could also take some handoffs and play special teams.
Jacobs joins fellow commit Jalin Marshall (Middletown) as Ohio State's only receiver commitments. Expect Meyer to try and add at least one more to his class.
