It didn't take Bo Pelini long to breathe new life into the storied Nebraska program. The Huskers went 10-4 and advanced to the Big 12 championship game last season in Pelini's third year. Now he'll tackle an entirely new task as Nebraska prepares for its first season in the Big Ten.

Coaches across the league overwhelmingly approved of the addition of Nebraska, setting up the conference's first championship game this season. Pelini, who grew up in Youngstown and played safety at Ohio State under John Cooper, relishes the opportunity.

Some years, Joe Paterno shows up to the Big Ten meetings in Chicago fairly surly with the look of a man who would rather be around the devil than a reporter.

Then there are times like today, when he was working on his standup routine while quoting Socrates and the Bible. But his best line was his first. When the floor was opened up for questions, the 84-year-old quipped "and speak up, will ya?"

Mark Dantonio and Jim Tressel arrived together at Ohio State in 1983. Dantonio was a grad assistant and Tressel was the quarterbacks coach. A bond was quickly struck that still exists today.
