Following Ohio State's 66-0 win against Kent State on Saturday, redshirt freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett was named Big Ten Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week.
Barrett tied an Ohio State record with six touchdown passes against the Golden Flashes. He threw for 312 yards while completing 76.7 percent of his passes.
Ohio State is off this week before playing Cincinnati on Sept. 27.

There isn’t a lot that can be said when one team pounds another to the tune of 66-0, but for the Ohio State Buckeyes the win over Kent State could say a lot after their beat down from Virginia Tech last week:
They needed this win. Even Urban Meyer knew it and admitted as much in his post-game presser. The magic words: “we had to have a game like this.”
But who needed it more: The offense and especially the offensive line that allowed quarterback J.T. Barrett to get pounded on last weekend against the Hokies. They started off a wee bit rocky early against the Golden Flashes, who started the game with a bear defense, but quickly settled down. The result 628 yards of total offense and Barrett tossed six TDs, matching Kenny Guiton’s record from last season.

COLUMBUS: It didn’t take long for the Ohio State University football team to assert what was going to happen against Kent State University.
Both football teams teed up Saturday’s game at Ohio Stadium knowing they each had a problems. The Buckeyes came in knowing that after last week’s whooping against Virginia Tech, they had absolutely zero wiggle room. Polls really don't matter anymore. Traditional polls don't really matter anymore with the new college football playoff in place. But those polls are still going to get released.
In the Amway Coaches' poll, Ohio State comes in at No. 7 following Saturday's 34-17 win against Navy. Defending national champion Florida State is No. 1 followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Auburn rounding out the top five.
Michigan State is the highest-rated Big Ten team at No. 6 followed by the Buckeyes. Nebraska and Wisconsin are the two other Big Ten teams in the top 25 at 18 and 19, respectively.
