According to a report by the Orlando Sun Sentinel, Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell interviewed for the vacant Florida Atlantic job.

The job was vacated after former coach Carl Pelini resigned last week after allegations of drug use surfaced.

Owls athletic director is Pat Chun, who was at Ohio State for 15 years before taking over the department at Florida Atlantic.

Sentinel reporter Dieter Kurtenbach notes that Fickell is Chun's top choice for the job. As Kurtenbach notes, Fickell makes more as Ohio State's assitant than Pelini made as FAU's head coach.

After Jim Tressel resigned at Ohio State in 2011, Fickell was named interim head coach before Urban Meyere was hired for the 2012 season. Fickell was 6-7 as head coach in 2011.
