Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer met with the media on Monday.
Among the items he discussed were players in a make or break year (Curtis Grant, Devin Smith, Michael Thomas) and the health status of backup quarterback Kenny Guiton (he's out four more weeks with a broken throwing hand).
But Meyer refused to talk about Aaron Hernandez, his former tight end at Florida. Hernandez is under investigation for murder and currently in prison.
From Ben Axelrod of Rivals:
Urban Meyer when asked for his thoughts on the Aaron Hernandez situation: "I'm not going to talk about that."— Ben Axelrod (@BenAxelrod) July 1, 2013
As Axelrod points out, the question was posed by Zac Jackson of Fox Sports Ohio.
I asked Urban Meyer what he's felt the last week about Aaron Hernandez. "I'm not gonna talk about that." So we didn't talk about that.— Zac Jackson (@FSOhioZJackson) July 1, 2013
Is this something Meyer should talk about? It's easy to understand why he wouldn't considering it's a pending legal matter. And what would he really say?
Maybe he'd say what he supposedly said when Hernandez was a freshman at Florida:
"Aaron will either be in prison or a Hall of Famer."
