There are some things in Columbus that, while not against the law, are culturally illegal.
Chief amongst them is singing the University of Michigan fight song.
As the Red Hot Chili Peppers' finished their set last Monday at the Schttenstein Center, the band, as most do, tossed guitar picks and drum sticks into the crowd.
Then drummer Chad Smith pulled the ultimate party foul before tossing his final stick into the crowd: He started to sing "To Victors." Smith only sang the first couple lines before tossing the microphone to the ground. The crowd's ovation immediately turned into boos.
Smith, who was at least dressed in all red, grew up in Michigan, as did Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony Kiedis.
