Agent: Browns rookie Joe Haden has 'no intentions of holding out'
Browns rookie cornerback Joe Haden has no intentions of holding out, his agent, Malik Shareef, told the Beacon Journal via e-mail on Thursday.
Haden, a former University of Florida standout and the seventh overall pick in this year's draft, has yet to reach a contract agreement with the Browns. However, Shareef indicated he's confident Haden, pictured left jumping over an opposing player, will be at the Browns' training camp when it begins July 31 in Berea.
"We had a great [conversation] with [Browns Vice President of Football Administration] Matt Thomas on Tuesday and hope to get negotiations started for Joe sometime next week," Shareef wrote. "[Thomas is] trying to wrap up [deals with] the rest of the Browns' picks, so he can focus on Joe's contract.
"We sincerely hope that Joe is in camp on time and will make every effort to make sure that the negotiations are done quickly. We understand that this is a big offseason for the Browns and have no intentions of holding out."
As of Thursday morning, the only Browns' draft picks of 2010 who agreed to deals were receiver Carlton Mitchell and defensive lineman Clifton Geathers. Both were selected in the sixth round.
