Cleveland Browns
Blackout deadline extended
The NFL granted the Browns a 24-hour extension of the television blackout deadline for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.
The game must now be sold out by 4 p.m. Friday for the game to be televised locally. The Browns said ''a few thousand'' tickets remain.
Tickets also still remain for Dec. 27 against the Oakland Raiders and Jan. 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, two games that will likely be blacked out. That hasn't happened since the final game of the 1995 season.
According to a CBS spokesperson, if the game is blacked out, the Cleveland and Youngstown markets will see Oakland at Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. The others scheduled for 4 p.m. are FOX games.
