Browns acquire DL Jayme Mitchell in trade with Vikings
The Browns completed a trade Wednesday in which they acquired defensive lineman Jayme Mitchell from the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced. Cleveland gave up an undisclosed 2012 draft choice.
The Browns also waived defensive back Derrick Roberson.
Mitchell has appeared in 29 regular-season games, recording five sacks and one forced fumble. He had a career-high two sacks against the New England Patriots on Oct. 30, 2006, the same year in which the Vikings signed him as an undrafted free agent.
Mitchell has appeared in two games this season. He has made one tackle, a sack for an 8-yard loss against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 9.
The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Mitchell, 26, started 20 of 45 career games at the University of Mississippi (2002-05), where he compiled 105 tackles and five sacks. He is a native of Jackson, Miss.
