Browns center Alex Mack visiting troops in Middle East as part of NFL-USO program
Browns center Alex Mack is in the midst of a weeklong visit with U.S. troops at military bases throughout the Middle East.
The NFL and USO have collaborated to organize overseas visits from players for more than 45 years.
"The USO tour is a great opportunity to show our appreciation to our military," Mack said in a news release from the NFL. "I think it’s really good for us to see what they go through and what they do. It’s great for them to be able to see that people care about them. Then we can further understand how important their work is and just how hard their job really is."
Carolina Panthers punter Jason Baker, San Diego Chargers linebacker Takeo Spikes, Houston Texans offensive tackle Eric Winston and former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Dhani Jones joined Mack this year in the NFL-USO program.
