The Browns claimed rookie cornerback Jordan Poyer off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles and waived cornerback Julian Posey, the team announced today.
The Eagles drafted the 6-foot, 191-pound Poyer this year in the seventh round (218th overall) out of Oregon State University. He appeared in three games with the Eagles and registered two tackles on defense and one on special teams.
Poyer also had a brief stint as an outfielder for Oregon State’s baseball team. The Florida Marlins selected him in the 42nd round of the 2009 MLB draft.
The Browns promoted Posey from their practice squad to the active roster Friday.
